Lauren believes a happy Alexis Sanchez could win Arsenal the league

Posted on November 23, 2017 by Ben Darvill

Former-Gunner Lauren has claimed that a happy Alexis Sanchez could win Arsenal the Premier League despite speculation surrounding his future intensifying in recent weeks as the world’s top clubs circle.

Arsenal were able to overcome an apparent mini-crisis at the weekend as they dismantled Tottenham 2-0. The scoreline did not flatter the Gunners as they completely outplayed their rivals who, in truth, did not ever really turn up in the game.

The victory means that they have moved onto 22 points from their 12 games, level with Liverpool in fifth, and just one point behind Tottenham in fourth-place. While the London side are 12 points shy of Manchester City at the top, Arsene Wenger will be very pleased of the way his side have reacted to their 3-1 defeat to City, with the London side displaying the grit and backbone that has been missing from the side for some time.

In their win over Tottenham, both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez shone, with the two wantaway players in fine form. The performance of Sanchez in particular has caused former-Arsenal defender Lauren to claim that if he is contented, then he could help them win the league.

He told Omnisport: “At least we [have to] keep Alexis Sanchez happy. I don’t think he will be the same player as last year, scoring a lot of goals, because if a player said to you at the beginning or the end the season, he wants to leave”.

“The people that are working with Alexis on a daily basis at the club must know about it, but he is a player that, definitely, to be able to win the Premier League, you need to have him in the squad. But you have to make him happy”.

The influence of Sanchez is undeniable, and when he is on song he can almost singlehandedly win games for his team. However, even if he as at his best from now until the end of the season, it may not be enough for the Gunners to overhaul the huge gap they find between themselves and City.
