According to Wales Online, Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez could miss Saturday’s Premier League clash with Swansea City due to his international commitments with Chile. The 27-year-old will travel to face Peru early on Thursday morning and will fly back to London in the afternoon/evening, meaning he’ll get one day to train before squaring up against the Swans.
Chile have a must-win World Cup qualifier this week so manager Juan Antonio Pizzi is unlikely to spare such a talismanic player from the squad. Sanchez could well be given a full 90 minutes such is the important of Thursday’s clash with Peru, and with the travel and lack of rest time, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger could be asking too much of the former Barcelona man to feature on Saturday.
Alexis Sanchez has been vital in a centre-forward role for Arsenal this season, scoring and creating nine goals in as many games in the absence of striker Olivier Giroud. The in-form South American attacker is known for his high energy levels and determination to play in as many games as possible so Wenger is likely to give Sanchez every chance to prove he can handle two games in three days.
Saturday sees Arsenal at home to Swansea, a game they should pick up all three points in, but the Gunners have a lack of viable centre-forward options in Sanchez’s stead. Wenger will likely make a late decision on his fitness this week.
