Arsenal have provided updates on the fitness of three players ahead of the Premier League match against Crystal Palace scheduled to take place on Thursday evening at the Emirates.
Gabriel Martinelli turned his right ankle during the warm-up process ahead of the FA Cup win over Newcastle United on Saturday and was consequently replaced in the line-up, having initially been named to start. The 19-year-old forward missed the start of the season through a serious knee injury, and once he recovered, he still understandably needed time to raise his fitness level to the standards required.
He finally returned to first-team action in the 2-1 defeat to Everton on December 19th, having come off the bench for the final 20 minutes. Therefore, anything that goes wrong with him at the moment is potentially horrible news, but this time it wasn’t that bad. His recovery is progressing well and he’s expected to return to full training in a few days, but it’s obviously not to be expected that he’ll play any part on Thursday.
Defender Gabriel Magalhaes has successfully recovered from a Covid-19 infection. He is already in full training and completely available for selection against the Eagles.
It remains to be seen how things go with midfielder Thomas Partey, however. The former Atletico Madrid man had a problem with his left thigh and hasn’t played since being taken off at halftime of the defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on December 6th. He has recovered from the injury and is now back in team training, but his fitness is still questionable and he will be assessed ahead of the game.
Arsenal are currently on a good run, having strung three Premier League victories together and added an FA Cup triumph on top, but they are still in the lower half of the table and obviously need to continue with these results to get anywhere near where they want to be.
Arsenal can be backed at 11/20 to beat Crystal Palace on Thursday.
