Higuain Move to Arsenal Takes a Setback

Posted on July 18, 2013 by Crippy Cooke

Arsenal fans must be getting tired of the rumours linking them with a big-name signing, only to be let down at the last minute. However, it appears this summer’s protracted transfer of Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain potentially moving to the Premier League side has hit a stumbling block.

Madrid are reportedly holding out for more money – said to be around £40M. A fee Arsenal will in no terms pay for the Argentine international. They were apparently told the same from Liverpool after the Gunners had a £25M bid rejected for Luis Suarez.

Many question why Arsenal currently even need a striker with Theo Walcott (21 goals), Lukas Podolski (16 goals), and Olivier Giroud (17 goals).

The club want a title challenge this season, but are they really willing to break their entire philosophy to end the ongoing trophy drought?

Gonzalo Higuain’s father, Jorge, has said the club have agreed personal terms, but are now negotiating the transfer fee. The Madrid striker was reported to be flying to London to wrap the deal up only a week ago, but now it seems the deal is back to square one again.

Arsenal look unlikely of paying the £40M asking price, and could well turn their attentions elsewhere.

Come on chap. Keep up. Arsenal lost interest in higuain and dealing with Real Madrid over 2 weeks ago. Higuain ain’t worth anymore than £25m

With all permutations & combinations going on in this year transfer market, it appears that the only realistic players that AW can sign is stevan jovetic, gustavo frm floretina nd Bayern munich respectively. It also seems to me that he has already completed deals for this players. All these noises on swarez, gonzalo, ronney just hype by AW nd Ivans to show dat they can compete in transfer market. They do’nt need to tell us that they ve money, spend it we ll know that they do. Can anyone tell me why CEO is part of asian tour? They seem to be more relaxed when i know how frugal Wenger can be. He ll let cats out of the bags once they finished their tour.
