Henrikh Mkhitaryan has claimed that his new teammate Mesut Ozil is the best number 10 in the world, with the two looking to form a lethal partnership as Arsenal chase a top-four spot in one of the most competitive Premier League seasons to date.
Arsenal fell to a hugely damaging 1-0 loss at the hands of Tottenham last weekend as their Premier League campaign took yet another blow.
Harry Kane rose highest to score the only goal of the game as the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang failed to repeat the Englishman’s feat.
The defeat means that the Gunners are now staring at a near-impossible task if they are to break back into the top-four. Arsene Wenger’s men are currently eight points short of Chelsea in the final Champions League spot as they are facing another season without a place in Europe’s top competition.
Despite the major blow Arsenal suffered last Saturday, the fans will still be happy with the business they were able to complete in the January transfer window. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was brought in from Borussia Dortmund, while Henrikh Mkhitaryan was swapped for Alexis Sanchez.
Indeed, Mkhitaryan proved how good he can be against Everton in his home debut, but he was very quiet against Tottenham. His relationship with Mesut Ozil was one that did not lead Arsenal to victory against Spurs, but this partnership will be massively important to the Gunners.
On Ozil, Mkhitaryan told Arsenal Player: “Everyone knows that Mesut is one of the best players in the world. It’s only happiness and joy to play next to him because he understands very well the football game, he has great vision, he has amazing technique and he’s the best in his position”.
The two are adept at opening up the strongest of defences and their budding partnership is vital as Arsenal look to return to their glory days.
