Arsenal face a difficult challenge in their efforts to land the OGC Nice highly-rated star Jean Michael Sari.
According to various reports from British press, initialised by the Guardian, the Ivorian midfielder who had a blistering season with French Ligue 1 outfit has emerged as a transfer target for Arsenal.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger and club chief Ivan Gazidis were pictured at Cote D’Azur airport in Nice, with reports swirling about a move for AS Monaco star Kylian Mbappe.
However, it is reported that their trip to France had more to do with Arsenal’s attempts to land the Nice star who made 34 Ligue 1 appearances, bagged respectable seven goals and managed nine assists in the process.
With his side completing a brilliant season which resulted in a shock third-place finish in the French championship, several Europe’s biggest clubs have started to circle around the player who enjoyed the most fruitful season in his career to this date.
La Liga giants Barcelona and Serie A heavyweights AS Roma are also believed to be in the hunt for Jean Michael Sari’s signature.
Barcelona are hoping to make amends for their disappointing season and are looking to add midfield reinforcements and alternatives for some of the players such as Andres Iniesta, who is not getting any younger. As for AS Roma, Giallorossi are keen to add more quality to their ranks in attempt to close the gap behind the Serie A champions Juventus and to build squad capable of challenging for Scudetto.
Faced with great competition for Sari’s signature, Wenger and Gazidis are believed to have headed to France in order to try and persuade OGC Nice management to cut their star player loose.
Jean Michael Sari is valued at £35 million.
