According to the Mirror, Arsenal could allow midfielder Aaron Ramsey to join new club Juventus in the January transfer window for a fee of £18million. The Welshman is out of contract in north London and has reportedly already agreed on terms of a deal with the Bianconeri to join as a free agent in the summer. However, Arsenal are reported to be willing to let the midfielder go early. However, he will not leave on the cheap.
Arsenal needs the money
Arsenal boss Unai Emery has recently stated that the Gunners have no money to make permanent signings, so any signing this month will only be on temporary deals. This is definitely not what Gunners fans will have wanted to hear.
The team from north London have hit an inconsistent patch of form. The inconsistent recent form has led to questions of head coach Unai Emery. It is the first time that Arsenal fans have really questioned the ability of the Spaniard to move the team forward.
However, no matter what Emery does, the former PSG boss is fighting with his hands tied behind his back. The backing he has received from the Gunners boardroom is pitiful. Did they expect Emery to come in and work miracles with the team? Arsenal fans did not, well until now. The team did encounter an upturn in fortunes and the atmosphere at the club improved immensely when Arsene Wenger left.
Emery, though, is facing the same problems as the Frenchman and has received even less backing in the transfer market to solve them. The Gunners hierarchy were quite happy for the team to finish in the top four of the top-flight for so long under Wenger. Are they happy for the team to finish in the top six every year now?
Arsenal looking unlikely to finish in the top four
With or without the sale of Ramsey in January, it seems unlikely that the Gunners will sign the sort of quality player they need to help to finish in the top four this season.
Arsenal are now odds of 11/2 to finish in the Champions League spots, longer odds than sixth place Manchester United. Finishing in the top four was never going to be an easy task for Arsenal this season, so it is unsurprising that the Gunners are currently outside the top-four.
Will Juventus really pay £18million for Aaron Ramsey in the January transfer window?
