Former-Arsenal defender Gabriel Paulista has revealed that the Premier League club must look to keep at least one of Alexis Sanchez or Mesut Ozil, with the two stars consistently linked with a move away from the team as their contracts expire in the summer.
Arsenal’s last Premier League game ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw with Chelsea in what was a fantastic advert for England’s top league. The draw has left the Gunners in sixth-place with 39 points, meaning they are five short of Liverpool in the last Champions League place.
Further up the league table, Arsenal are now 23 points short of Manchester City at the top, with their hopes of an unlikely title triumph at the start of the season realistically over before the turn of the year.
Their struggles have come despite having a fairly strong team with a very strong attack. Indeed, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil have been supplemented by the attacking-talent of Alexandre Lacazette, but the three have not been able to deter Arsenal’s problems. Both Sanchez and Ozil have been consistently linked with moves away and, despite incurring the wrath of the supporters, they are the Gunners’ two best players.
Former-defender Gabriel Paulista has had his say on the futures of the two, as The Sun reported: “The team would lose a lot if they [Sanchez and Ozil] left. I would bet at least one of them stays. Don’t ask me which one, though!”.
Paulista may be right in this assumption as the Gunners would be hit hard if they were to lose their two best players at the same time. Arsene Wenger and the club have a huge task on their hands to get one, if not both to stay.
