According to the Metro, Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud is considering a move to Everton this summer and is believed to have been in contact with manager Ronald Koeman. The French international looked set to stay after committing his future, but he’s since been linked with a host of clubs and knows he’ll be second-choice to new signing Alexandre Lacazette.
Giroud spent last season third in the pecking order to Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck. He was an effective substitute, however, and turned in an impressive goal tally given the considerable lack of minutes. The 30-year-old scored 12 goals in 11 Premier League starts, scoring and creating 20 goals in all competitions for Arsenal, and has sides ready to bid £20m for his services as a result.
In the French Ligue 1, Marseille and Lyon have shown interest, while West Ham and Everton have also been linked. The latter are looking to replace Manchester United-bound Romelu Lukaku this summer and feel a prolific scorer like the Arsenal man would be good value for money. Despite appearing happy, Giroud did admit frustration at losing his starting place in the side.
He will know he’s behind Lacazette in the pecking order going into next season too, and as a result Olivier Giroud is 5/4 to join Everton this summer.
