For the final time this year, the upcoming weekend will be full of international football as opposed to domestic as countries across the world attempt to further their chances of qualifying for the next major tournament. We’ve already seen the UEFA Euro 2021 line-up being completed, and bizarrely enough, a lot of the attention is already being to turn towards what will happen at the 2022 FIFA World Cup – or, at the very least, what’s happening with qualifying.
Either way, we can’t pretend like this or any of the other international breaks this year have been normal, because they haven’t been. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has shifted the trajectory of all our lives and as we look ahead to the future, that probably isn’t going to change for at least the next three to six months.
As Arsenal fans we’ve all come to learn that the beautiful game isn’t always going to be quite as beautiful as we’d always intended, but such is the nature of this sport. Still, we all need to remind ourselves from time to time that the little things in life can’t be underestimated or underappreciated, and that’s what this weekend should be about.
Have a good one, Gunners!
How will you be spending the weekend?
