While Liverpool fans would rather ‘be cool’ and declare themselves Scouse as opposed to English, Arsenal fans are a little bit more open to the idea of supporting their national team. For most Gunners supporters that team is England, and with that heritage comes a series of disappointing results in tournaments over the last few decades.
Alas, we’re here to offer up some alternatives for you, and we’re pretty much just aiming to pose a ‘which would you prefer’ query to those of you reading this. Now while this may be an Arsenal-specific blog, nobody can deny that seeing England win the World Cup would be a dream come true for football fans around the nation. It’s something we’ve never been anticipating or expecting, mainly because we’ve been let down so many times in the past.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, you’ve got Arsenal, who have spent the last few years failing in the league whilst pulling off a few miracles in the domestic cups. While that’s all well and good, the one trophy that fans want to see them lift more than any other is the Champions League.
They came close back in 2006, only to be foiled by Barcelona who went on to create a dynasty for themselves. Yes, we know, we’re sorry for bringing up painful memories.
The very simple question that we want to pose to you is this: would you rather see Arsenal win the Champions League or England win the World Cup? It’s a simple question with many extra layers, but if it was up to us, we’d probably prefer the Gunners lifting the European Cup – although it’s very, very close. At the end of the day, we’ve won the WC before back in 1966, but the record books don’t have a major Arsenal UCL win in there yet. It’s time to change that.
World Cup or Champions League?
