Away day fans who are planning on travelling to Portugal for the Europa League tie against Vitoria have been forced to wait and see what the latest development was in regards to the game being moved due to other encounters that are happening in Portugal on the same night. As reported by Arsenal.com, the following confirmation has been provided.
“We have received confirmation from Uefa that our Europa League match in Portugal against Vitoria SC will take place as follows:
Vitoria SC v Arsenal
Europa League group stage
Wednesday, November 6
Kick-off 3.50pm (local and UK time)
As mentioned in previous communications, this match has been switched by Uefa from Thursday to Wednesday due to other matches taking place in close proximity in Portugal.”
It seems like an early time to be playing and that’s because, well, it is. However, if this is going to be the easiest option for the club, then we’re completely fine with it. It doesn’t appear as if this will cause the club too many issues in the long run and if anything, it could help them.
It’ll give them a bit more time before the following weekend’s game, they won’t have to play at night, and it’s not exactly like it’s the longest of trips over when you consider some of the alternatives that they could’ve drawn.
They may need to move a few things around the weekend before in order to plan accordingly for the game within the resources they have in their squad, but either way, we aren’t seeing many issues here.
How do you feel about the Wednesday game?
