Talented Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom has joined Sky Bet Championship leaders Brighton on loan until the end of the season, it has been confirmed.
The 21-year-old Gunners talent has seen his first-team opportunities at Arsenal significantly limited as the England Under-21 international has so far made only one start and nine substitute appearances for Arsene Wenger’s team.
The French manager holds the striker in high regard however and has sanctioned another loan spell to aid Akpom’s development.
Having enjoyed successful loan spells ant Brentford, Coventry City and Nottingham Forest before helping Hull City to promotion back to the Premier League last term with seven goals in 22 starts, Chuba Akpom is relishing another chance to prove his worth in a demanding competition such as the Championship.
“Having spoken to the boss I thought Brighton would be the perfect place to come to”, Akpom commented on his loan move.
The 21-year-old forward has been struggling with an injury over the past four months and with Akpom just coming back to full fitness, Brighton indeed could be the perfect opportunity for the youngster.
The host of other clubs including Aston Villa were keen on the Arsenal man.
Chuba Akpom is the player who has emerged through the Arsenal youth system and the 21-year-old has been regular in all England’s national setups as well.
The Arsenal forward made his professional debut back in 2013 and is still regarded as a future star for the North London club.
