Arsenal defender Calum Chambers put in a strong showing during the win against Bournemouth, to the point where many Gunners fans are calling him the club’s saviour from a defensive standpoint. As reported by Arsenal.com, the man himself is excited and ready to learn from one of his senior teammates at the back – David Luiz.
“David has been brilliant, he has come in and no-one in the club has a bad word to say about him,” he said. “He is one of the nicest guys I have met, he talks to you, gives you advice and makes everyone feel like he is giving you his undivided attention.
“Off the pitch, he is a great guy and on the pitch he brings his qualities and is playing well at the moment.
“He brings some added experience, obviously he was won things and I haven’t won as many things as he has so there are things I can learn from him both on and off the pitch, it is always good to have experience like that in the team.”
“It is something we were speaking about before the game, building up momentum, especially in a home game,” he said. “Our away form has been okay as well so we have just got to keep working hard.
“We have a couple of weeks to knuckle down with the players that will be here and keep learning what the manager wants us to do and take that on to the pitch.
“We have got a really strong squad, a lot of quality players. We know we have got quality and we can see that, we have just got to keep working hard and believing in ourselves and the results will keep on coming.”
There’s still a long way to go before the excitement can properly return to the Emirates, but their chances of putting in a decent shift this season are even stronger now that they’re putting the right pieces into place defensively. Now, fans want to see whether or not Unai Emery can get this team playing in the kind of tactical stance that is going to work for them.
There’s a long road ahead and a lot of competitions to navigate through, but that’s part of the fun.
