Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed he won’t be speaking about potential transfers for players – citing how he doesn’t want to give supporters false hope, or risk upsetting the harmony in the squad.
Real Madrid left-winger Angel Di Maria has been linked with the London outfit as Tottenham forward Gareth Bale looks to be joining the La Liga side and will subsequently replace the Argentine international.
Newcastle’s deep-lying playmaker Yohan Cabaye is also said to be a transfer target for the Gunners – who have already made a failed £10M bid.
Wenger added how he’s only in the market for ‘special players’ , and will not panic buy just to fill the squad – like he was guilty of doing in a previous season.
He wants the supporters on his side with the movement the club make in the transfer market this summer, and hopes they will understand his decision.
It would appear the long-serving boss is preparing the fans for potential disappointment as Arsenal have so far failed in their quest to sign any names on their wish list.
It’s likely the Gunners will bring in just one more new face to join the squad before the transfer window shuts. The only summer addition is ex-Auxerre striker Yaya Sanogo.
