Courtesy of Arsenal.com, the full list of Gunners stars that are going to be heading out in international duty has been revealed. While many of us will spend the next two weeks praying that nobody gets injured and everyone returns with a full bill of health, we all know there’s a chance that won’t happen.
Alas, all we can do for now is praise them and hope that they put in the kind of performance that will give them confidence heading back into Premier League and Europa League action.
Bernd Leno has been named in the Germany squad for their international friendly against Argentina on Wednesday, October 9 and Euro 2020 qualifier against Estonia on Sunday, October 13 – Bring him back in one piece – we can’t afford an injury here.
Dani Ceballos has been called up to Spain’s squad for their Euro 2020 qualifiers against Norway on Saturday, October 12 and Sweden on Tuesday, October 15 – One of Arsenal’s best players so far this season. Integral.
Lucas Torreira has retained his place in the Uruguay squad for their international friendly double-header against Peru in Montevideo on Saturday, October 12 and Lima on Wednesday, October 16 – Hopefully a strong performance for his country will boost his confidence.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been named in the Gabon squad for their international friendlies against Burkina Faso on Thursday, October 10 and Morocco on Tuesday, October 15 – The star man for the Gunners who needs to be protected at all costs.
Nicolas Pepe has been called up to the Ivory Coast squad for their international friendly against DR Congo on Sunday, October 13 and their 2020 Africa Cup of Nations second-round second-leg qualifier against Niger. Ivory Coast are 2-0 down on aggregate after last month’s first-leg tie in Niamey – Looks lively but needs a little bit more of a spark to his game.
Emi Martinez received his second senior call up to the Argentina senior squad for their international friendlies against Germany on Wednesday, October 9 and Ecuador on Sunday, October 13. It’s Emi’s first senior call-up since June 2011, when he was named in the squad to face Nigeria but didn’t feature – Will he get some time? Hopefully.
Joe Willock and Eddie Nketiah have been included in the England Under-21 squad for their international friendly against Slovenia on Friday, October 11 and Euro Under-21 Championship qualifier against Austria on Tuesday, October 15 – Good luck to two of Arsenal’s most promising youngsters in years.
Matteo Guendouzi is also in Euro Under-21 Championship qualifying action, as France take on Azerbaijan on Thursday, October 10 and Slovakia on Tuesday, October 15 – Should be the leading man in that team.
And finally, Sead Kolasinac has been named in Bosnia & Herzegovina’s squad for their Euro 2020 qualifiers against Finland on Saturday, October 12 and Greece on Tuesday, October 15 – How can you not love Sead? Come back healthy.
