This weekend will see Arsenal’s return to Premier League action as they prepare to go head to head with Crystal Palace at the Emirates. Last season Palace were able to cause a real stir in their two games against the Gunners, and this time around, we’re expecting the same thing. Alas, while the Eagles are a solid team, they’re the kind of opposition that Unai Emery’s men need to be beating if they’re serious about confirming their status as top four contenders.
Emery knows that their backs are against the wall and that they need to pick up three points in some way, shape or form. If they drop points again, you can bet that they’ll be called into question.
One of the biggest questions of all is going to be whether or not Mesut Ozil gets into the squad, because Emery just doesn’t seem to believe in him enough to insert the guy into the first team. Elsewhere, though, there are plenty of reasons to be positive and feel like this team can go on to do some pretty big things. They’ve got a few star players that are capable of taking the Gunners pretty far, but it’s all about getting it right from a tactical standpoint.
Roy Hodgson has turned Palace into a team that are legitimately terrifying to play against. They’re gritty and they move the ball around with such fluidity, to the point where it’s pretty uncomfortable for a lot of teams to play against them. There’s never any guarantee in this game of three points one way or another, but you just know they’re going to cause problems. If they can get into a rhythm from the first few minutes, it’s going to be a difficult afternoon for the home side.
Perhaps foolishly, we’re going to back Arsenal to secure the win. It’s going to be a tight game as we all know, but they’ve got enough talent within the likes of Aubameyang, Lacazette and Pepe to ensure that they get the job done.
Will Arsenal get the win over Crystal Palace?
