Arsenal are still interested in OGC Nice’s Jean-Michael Seri, according to Sky Sports. The man said to be behind the club’s ambition to sign the midfielder is Raul Sanllehi. The current Head of Football Relations at Arsenal once upon a time tried to secure his services for Barcelona.
Seri is, however, just one on the list of names being considered at the moment. As it stands, he would be available for a price of £35million, which is pretty reasonable given the way the football transfer market has been evolving since Paris Saint-Germain signed Neymar from Barcelona for around £200million last summer.
Further more, the recent appointment of former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira as the Nice manager is considered as a potential boost for the relations between the French club and the Gunners, thought there could be a question-mark over that assumption, given the way things ended up with Vieria in terms of Arsenal’s managerial pursuit.
Even though he said he was ready to take the Arsenal job, he was reported to be dismayed by Arsenal’s inquiry being made out of mere courtesy and not actual interest.
Be it as it may, Arsenal are expected to face competition for Seri’s signature from Chelsea, but the current managerial situation at Stamford Bridge should make any move for the player difficult for the Blues. Antonio Conte still remains in the position, but he’s still expected to either leave or face being sacked very soon. They were heavily linked with Maurizio Sarri but that endeavour ended unsuccessfully. This particular problem Chelsea are having at the moment highlights how well Arsenal have done to get their quest for a manager sorted out quickly.
Apart from Chelsea, Manchester City are also believed to be monitoring the situation as they look for a way to get the deal for Napoli’s Jorginho over the line. Only if that move utterly fails would they consider swooping in for Seri.
