Arsenal have been suffering from a torrid time in the league with their campaign threatening to derail at this early stage. A 2-1 defeat to Watford destroyed the momentum they had been building and has caused many to once again label the club as being in crisis.
They now face a test in the Europa League against Red Star Belgrade on Thursday as they look to maintain their 100% record in the competition. However, it will not be easy for Arsenal as morale is clearly low, while the players are in poor form themselves.
Arsene Wenger obviously has a monumental task ahead of him. The manager must find a way to get the players back on song, while he needs to begin to win his games in the Premier League, otherwise, their title challenge will be over before it ever really began. He will hope that this will see the fans brought back on side too, with some sections of the support still calling for his removal.
Wenger has so much to contend with that he does not need more on his plate, but the Daily Star has claimed that starman Alexis Sanchez seemed to shun a handshake with his manager. The Chilean was on the verge of a move to Manchester City in the summer but ended up staying in London.
Sanchez was seen walking to training with Nacho Monreal and Mesut Ozil, and Wenger shook the hands of the two players, but the winger seemed to move away from his manager. While it is unconfirmed as to whether he did purposely shun Wenger’s hand, the fans will see this as a clear indication that their star man is clearly unhappy.
