According to Le Sport, via the Metro, Arsenal could make a move for Nice’s talented young central midfielder Vincent Koziello. The 20-year-old star has impressed for Nice, who have enjoyed a stellar start to their Ligue One campaign and currently sit top of the French top-flight.
The Metro claims that Koziello is being lined up for a move to north London next summer with Santi Cazorla’s contract set to expire. It seems unlikely that Arsenal would attempt to replace such an influential player with such a young untried talent.
The Spaniard has to be offered a new deal in north London. Maybe he can be brought in to learn from the former-Villarreal star.
Wenger has been impressed
We all know Wenger likes to sign his compatriots. His biggest success stories have been Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira, Emmanuel Petit and Robert Pires. Apparently Koziello is the latest French talent to have caught the Le Professor’s eye.
Koziello is the sort of player that Wenger likes to sign. He is young and raw, which Wenger likes in his new players. He can then try to mould them into star players like he did in the past with the aforementioned quartet.
Koziello made his debut in Ligue One at just 18-years-old and has made a good start to the campaign with the French league leaders. In terms of international experience the youngster has picked up just one cap for France’s under-21 team so far.
Arsenal have a lot of midfielders
Even in the unlikely event of Cazorla leaving the London club next summer, Arsenal have a plethora of central and attacking midfielders. There is Francis Coquelin, Granit Xhaka, Mohamed Elneny and Aaron Ramsey
That is not including Cazorla or England international Jack Wilshere who is likely to return from his loan spell at Bournemouth for next season. I cannot see where Koziello would fit in and when he would get any first team football with the Gunners.
Arsenal would also reportedly face competition from Italian giants AC Milan for Koziello’s signature. All-in-all I am not sure how much truth there is to this story. The youngster may have talent and Arsenal may have scouted him.
However, the summer is a far way off. A lot can happen between now and then. The youngster could lose his form or Arsenal could lose interest. I would be very surprised if Koziello becomes a Arsenal player next summer.
Would Vincent Koziello be a good signing for Arsenal?
