Arsenal are said to have approached Brazil powerhouse Corinthians over the availability of midfield starlet Maycon.
Gunners have kept a close watch of the talented 20-year-old over the past couple of seasons and are said to be dead set on making a summer move for the Corinthians standout as part of their ongoing squad overhaul.
Arsenal scouts had nothing but words of praise for the high-profile youngster who has turned plenty of heads with his impressive performances of late.
According to the reports found in The Sun, the Premier League giants have already made contact with Corinthians who want around £9 million for Maycon. Brazilian side will also be keen to hold on to the talented midfielder on loan for another year before Maycon joins the London-based club.
Arsenal will not rush to get this deal through, however, knowing that they could encounter several obstacles with acquiring a visa for the player. His transfer would require a lot of work behind the scenes to get all the aspects sorted and Arsenal are willing to leave it all for the summer.
“Arsenal are very interested in Maycon. He has been watched a fair amount for more than a year. They have been impressed and he has a promising future. He is not really a player for now,” a source told the newspaper.
Serie A hot-shots Napoli and a number of different European sides are said to be keeping tabs on the Brazilian gem.
