Arsenal join chase for Rennes forward

French international Paul-Georges Ntep has drawn plenty of attention from some of the Europe’s top clubs this season and is widely expected to leave the Ligue 1 side Rennes once the transfer window reopens in January.

The 24-year-old Cameroon-born winger’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season which puts Rennes into a tight spot as they do not have little choice but to sell their prized asset in order to avoid losing him on free transfer next summer.

Ntep is not short of suitors as the two-cap French international is a target for several clubs in Italy and England.

Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi reportedly hopes he will be able to convince Ntep to move to Italy, but the Serie A outfit will face tough competition in the likes of Southampton, Watford, Liverpool and most recently Arsenal.

According to reports from England, Arsenal and Liverpool are expected to go head-to-head for winger’s signature.

Arsene Wenger and Jurgen Klopp are both looking to add fresh talent to their squads in order to strengthen their title bids and Paul-Georges Ntep has seemingly been identified as one of the top January targets both for the Gunners and the Reds.

Ntep joined Rennes on a three-and-a-half year deal in 2014 from Auxerre and has so far played 68 Ligue 1 matches, adding 16 goals to his name.

Best known for his quick pace and technical ability, Ntep has this season made 9 league appearances, but is yet to register a goal for his club.
