German magazine Kicker has learned that Arsenal are weighing up summer bid for Borussia Dortmund star Ilkay Gundogan, who has been linked with a move to the Emirates several times in the past.
The Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly a huge admirer of the Germany international and has set out to lure him to North London at the end of the current campaign.
According to Kicker, Arsenal already attempted to sign Gundogan in the January transfer window, but had a bid in the region of £18 million rejected.
Not so long ago, it looked as though the 24-year-old was certain to extend his stay at Signal-Iduna Park, following in the footsteps of Marco Reus, but contract negotiations do not appear to be going according to plan at the moment.
And with Gundogan having just over a year left on his current deal, it is hardly surprising that Arsene Wenger is closely monitoring the situation, just like Barcelona and Manchester United.
The highly rated footballer has done brilliantly to rediscover his form after missing no fewer than 14 months of action through a back problem and he has played himself back into the first team plans of coach Jurgen Klopp.
Gundogan went on to start 17 Bundesliga fixtures this term, scoring 3 goals and producing as many assists in the process, while also appearing in six Champions League games.
