Newcastle United and AC Milan have both been credited with Arsenal target Miguel Almiron, who is widely expected to leave Atlanta United after a breakthrough season in the MLS.
The 23-year-old Paraguay international made an instant impression in the American football in his very first season in the MLS.
Almiron joined Atlanta United in a Young Designated Player deal said to be worth around $8 million from Lanus and went on to rake up nine goals and 14 assists in 30 appearances for his team.
His impressive showings were enough for Almiron to be included in the MLS All-Star team whereas the 23-year-old Paraguayan was also in the running for MLS Newcomer of the Year award.
Arsenal were first linked with the MLS glowing star earlier in October but the latest reports have it that Gunners will face tough competition in their efforts to land the talented midfielder.
Newcastle United are said to have joined the race for Atlanta United playmaker who keeps going from strength to strength.
Regarded as a natural replacement for out of sorts Mesut Ozil, the Paraguay international could be a valuable addition to Arsenal’s talented squad but Magpies manager Rafa Benitez seems to have other ideas.
The Spanish tactician eyes Almiron as a perfect replacement for Ayoze Perez who has been mostly used in an attacking midfielder this season and Benitez feels Almiron could add the much-needed creativity to his side.
What is more, the Italian media also report that AC Milan keep track of the Atlanta United starlet who could be available for £15 million this winter.
