Even the most optimistic of Arsenal fans have serious doubts as to whether Arsene Wenger will manage to strengthen the playing squad in the final hours of the summer transfer window, and they have every right to feel aggrieved by the lack of transfer business.
At a time when the Gunners have scored mere three goals in four Premier League fixtures, with Giroud and Walcott notching one goal between them, the manager should be fighting tooth and nail to recruit a high-quality centre forward.
But, he is rather still looking for bargain deals even if the time is quickly running out and his stubbornness could end up costing the Emirates outfit dearly in the final count.
As they showed last season, this is a team that definitely has loads of potential, but we are clearly lacking several quality players to make it to the next level and become serious title contenders in the Premier League.
And while other title rivals have seriously reinforced the squad using the windfall from new TV rights deal, Arsenal have only signed Petr Cech this summer, and it is becoming increasingly unlikely that more marquee signings will be added to the squad.
It is, therefore, not surprising that the Gunners have become the laughing stock of the football world, with even the Heathrow Airport making fun of the club during yet another disappointing transfer deadline day.
“We’ve planned the journey from #Heathrow to the Emirates for @Arsenal’s new striker…if one ever arrives #DeadlineDay,” Heathrow Airport tweeted earlier today.
