Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was the victim of a brilliant nutmeg stunt in Gunners training ahead of their Thursday’s Europa League clash against Red Star.
Together with other Arsenal youngsters, Ainsley Maitland-Niles has already demonstrated quite a lot of skill and talent but this last piece of magic was really something else.
Judging by the video posted by Arsenal on their social media, the 20-year-old winger could easily be crowned the king of nutmegs at the North London club.
It’s not easy to say whether the Arsenal starlet meant to do this or not – probably not – but the piece of skill was incredible nevertheless and it even earned praise from Arsene Wenger himself.
“Well done, well done.”, Wenger said with a wide smile on his face after getting the ball stuck through his legs.
The stunt could definitely help Maitland-Niles secure a starting berth for Gunners against Red Star this evening as the England youth continues to climb his way to the top by frequent Europa League appearances.
Maitland-Niles was usually deployed at left wing-back this season in the Europa League, whereas he would often switch places with Nelson. The Arsenal pair, in combination with Joe Willock definitely look like great prospects and big players in the future.
The young trio have emerged as Arsene Wenger’s most prized youth assets this season and are getting plenty of chances to prove their worth thanks to Wenger’s rotation policy in Europa League and EFL Cup.
