Highly-rated Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure revealed three Premier League clubs are interested in signing him, while he also stated his preference which is set to be music to Arsenal fans’ ears.
Doucoure appeared on a French talk show Telefoot where he was subjected to a series of questions dealing with his future at Watford.
The 25-year-old is enjoying a scintillating season with Watford despite Hornets’ underwhelming Premier League form which currently sees them sitting in 11th place in the standings.
Abdoulaye Doucoure is one of the most notable Watford players this term. He currently has seven goals and three assists in 26 Premier League appearances with a number of his goals being scored against top England opposition.
Doucoure got his name on the scoresheet against Liverpool and Manchester United, whereas he managed to both score and assist two in his matches against reigning champions Chelsea.
The Watford midfielder joined up with Hornets from Rennes in 2016 and his stock has gone through a steady rise ever since to get him on the radar of Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool.
“It’s true that these clubs are interested.”, Doucoure told Telefoot.
“But I’m at Watford for the moment and I want to finish my season well.”
Doucoure was then asked to comment on which north London club he would choose in a quick Q&A session, during which he chose Gunners.
“Arsenal because of Arsene Wenger.”, he added.
It would be interesting to see whether his preference would play a part in decision making knowing that Tottenham and Liverpool could prove to be a more intriguing prospect with their Champions League chances for next season currently more likely than Arsenal’s.
