A look at Arsenal’s international stars

Posted on November 17, 2019 by Harry Kettle

Arsenal’s stars have been out on international duty over the last few days, and they won’t be returning to the Emirates until later in the week. We’re going to take a look at how some of them have fared as we look ahead to the remainder of the games during the break, as well as what could be next for all of the players involved.

Reiss Nelson – Reiss scored the third goal for England U21s in their win over Albania after coming on in the second half of the game.

Joe Willock – Played a decent enough game for the U21s before being replaced by none other than Reiss Nelson.

Granit Xhaka – Xhaka played a starring role for Switzerland as they wound up beating Georgia to all but secure their place in next year’s tournament.

Sead Kolasinac – Everyone’s favourite Arsenal hard man starred from the first minute until the very last as Bosnia’s hopes of Euro 2020 qualification were ended by Italy.

Emiliano Martinez – Martinez didn’t feature for Argentina over in Saudi Arabia, in what amounted to a pretty pointless trip when you think about it.

Lucas Torreira – Torreira got a run out in the big win over Hungary in their own backyard, but he’ll still want to star more than he already is.

Nicolas Pepe – Pepe featured as his side edged out Niger, as he continues to star as one of Ivory Coast’s top stars.

Bernd Leno – Leno watched from the bench as Germany tore a hole through Belarus, ensuring that he remains fully fit – for the time being – ahead of Arsenal’s return to action.

It’s nice to see so many of them doing well, but none of it really matters – because it’s all about whether or not they can get back to winning ways with the Gunners.

Who have you been most impressed by during the international break?
