Will Coquelin get his chance against Southampton?

Posted on September 10, 2012 by admin

The young Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin has been promoted to the Arsenal first-team this season, but with the resurgence of Abou Diaby he has not been given a look in during the first three League games.

He has already stated that he will give it six months to see if he can make the breakthough. He said: “In July, I met the coach and he told me I am a full member of the team and he relies on me. Looking at who we have signed, they have trust in me.

“Alex Song left for Barcelona and they didn’t sign another defensive midfielder.

“When I didn’t play in the first three matches it made me think about it. But I know I will get an opportunity and I will seize it.

“Arteta, Diaby and Cazorla are great players, who have more experience than me. But during training sessions every morning I am not behind them.

“I am 21-years-old, I know I cannot be patient any more. This year is the right season to make a name for myself at Arsenal.

“I have given myself six months and then I will take stock. If I see it is blocked, I will go somewhere else. But for now I know I have the qualities to make a name for myself at Arsenal.”

With Diaby currently playing with France in the World Cup Qualifiers it is to be expected that Wenger will finally give the 26 year-old a rest in the next Arsenal game against Southampton, especially as the following two games are tough ones against Man City and Chelsea.

This should leave the way open for Coquelin to show what he can do in next weekend’s game against Southampton, and if Wenger doesn’t give the youngster a run-out against one of the relegation favourites then Coquelin may be forced to “take stock” a little earlier than he thought…..

Anything that prevents the welsh twat Ramsy from playing is a good thing.
But not every useless youth that starts moaning must get a go.
It’s too late for trial and error.
Useless Wenger has been doing that for 8 years now.

It’s time only quality players stay on the pitch.

Ramsy , Frimpong and all that rubbish can and should be sold.

    Coqlan included.

dont think the boss will mess with success. i expect the same line-up. southhampton shouldnt be underestimated either.

i think wenger pumped up coquelins chances of playing. but with sagna out coquelin makes a good sub at the moment to cover jenkinson in case of injury.

if i was wenger, i would rotate him with arteta against the lesser teams. but for now, we should try to continue that standard we delivered against liverpool. bring coquelin on in the second half for diaby/arteta if we are leading comfortably.
coquelins a player we should try to keep happy.

If Le Coq has an it as an option to leave AFC he should be sold ASAP cos we only need player that want to be here and fight for the club, and bid their time to get a chance as well. Looking at the southamptons, they’ve proven to be very determined and disciplined against the two Mancs, so they are a tough opposition as man u. We need to have a backup plan for them and a higher level which they can’t contend with and we can only achieve this by being more athletic and brute, having a point to prove. Therefore i will say we start with Mannone, Jenko, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Gibbs, Le coq, arteta, ramsey, Gervinho, Giroud, carzola. With this we will have given desired rest to some key players and avoid injuries prior to the tough matches ahead cos new clubs in the league tends to be more reckless and diaby & TV5 needs to be fit more this season. We can now have a scary bench having walcott, Poldi, DJ20, Diaby, Martinez, Santos, Ox. We will be more dangerous to play this way as we will be unpredictable. COYG!!!
