Yaya Sanogo always out of his depth at Arsenal 0

Posted on June 09, 2017 by David Nugent

As we all now know Arsenal have decided to realise French striker Yaya Sanogo this summer. The 24-year-olds contract expires this summer and he leaves having made very little impact at the north London club, except for a few bright pre-seasons run-outs.

Always out of his depth at Arsenal

Once of the first articles I ever wrote for My Arsenal Blog (in 2014 I think) was about whether Yaya Sanogo would ever make it at Arsenal. I got a so much abuse for the article, but at the time, I saw a player that just never looked like making it at the top level, even if he was a youngster.

Yaya Sanogo finally released from Arsenal 0

Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo has left the club at the end of his contract this summer. The Frenchman scored just one goal in four years at the Emirates Stadium, enduring poor form and injuries after his signing from now-Ligue 2 side AJ Auxerre.

“The adventure ends. I maybe did not always do what was necessary to impose myself. But Wenger is a great manager and he taught me a lot,” he told L’Equipe, reports Goal (http://www.goal.com/en/news/8/main/2017/06/05/36121842/sanogo-confirms-arsenal-exit-and-wont-blame-wenger-for-his). Sanogo also opened up about his injury problems which kept him out of many games during his time at Arsenal.

Yaya Sanogo to be offered escape route from Arsenal 0

Italian media outlet Calciomercato has learned that Ligue 1 side Saint Etienne have been showing interest in Arsenal forgotten man Yaya Sanogo.

The French forward hasn’t even made a single matchday squad since returning from a somewhat successful loan spell at Charlton Athletic and it is clear that his long-term future at the Emirates is in doubt.

It is difficult to comprehend why Sanogo was not allowed to leave in the summer transfer window, but it appears that he will certainly be leaving the club in January.

Out-of-favour trio including in Arsenal EPL squad 0

Arsenal has included out-of-favour trio Carl Jenkinson, Mathieu Debuchy and Yaya Sanogo in their 25-man Premier League squad for this season. All three spent loan spells elsewhere last season and none of the trio look to be in Arsene Wenger’s plans for this season.

Not terrible full-back options

With Calum Chambers moving to Middlesbrough on loan late in the transfer window Arsene Wenger obviously believed that he needed cover for first choice right-back Hector Bellerin.

Arsenal really cannot rely upon Theo Walcott as a striker 0

The striking situation is starting to look highly worrying at Arsenal.  Danny Welbeck has a long-term injury, Alexis Sanchez has come back from the Copa America with an injury and French international Olivier Giroud has been given a month off to recover following Euro 2016.

That leaves the Gunners with a major lack of strikers. It seems the team from north London may start the season with winger Theo Walcott up front, which let’s face it is not exactly a great solution.

Walcott is wildly inconsistent

Yaya Sanogo entering the last year of his contract with Arsenal 0

Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo is approaching the final 12 months of his contract at the Emirates Stadium and looks on course to be released next summer upon its expiration. It will be a sad sight to see such potential ultimately amounting to nothing, but the 23-year-old has been given enough opportunity to prove his worth.

With competition stiff for places in the Arsenal first-team upon his 2013 arrival, manager Arsene Wenger felt the striker would be better off getting regular game time out on loan after sparse opportinity in his first year at the club. However, Sanogo failed to score a league goal at Crystal Palace in 2014/15, and the following season was even more struggle for the injury-prone striker.

Does Yaya Sanogo have a future at Arsenal? 0

Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo looks to be enduring a torrid time out on loan with Ajax this season, with recent footage showing the Frenchman struggling in front of goal. Missing a number of clear-cut chances, the 22-year-old hasn’t managed to progress in the years he’s spent at Arsenal, and such poor performances while out on loan could make up manager Arsene Wenger’s mind to let him go at the next available opportunity.

Yaya Sanogo joins Ajax on-loan 0

Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo has joined Dutch giants Ajax on a season-long loan deal. The youngster has stated he hopes to emulate former-Ajax heroes Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Nwankwo Kanu during his spell in Amsterdam.

The 22-year-old is off on another temporary jaunt, after spending the second half of last season on-loan at the Gunners Premier League rivals Crystal Palace. The move was not exactly a resounding success, as he played ten times for the Eagles in the Premier League without scoring.

Lille keen on Yaya Sanogo 0

French media outlet Le 10 Sport has learned that Ligue 1 side Lille have expressed their interest in Arsenal forward Yaya Sanogo, who could again be leaving the Emirates on loan this summer.

Les Dogues recently recruited Herve Renard, one of Europe’s most talented coaches, and they have big ambitions ahead of the 2015/2016 campaign.

With Nolan Roux expected to leave, Lille hope to sign one or two centre forwards in the summer transfer window. And with their top target Jordan Ayew not available for sale, they appear to have turned their attention towards Yaya Sanogo.

Martinez once again linked with Arsenal 0

According to the Daily Telegraph, Arsenal could be set to make a £25million move for FC Porto striker Jackson Martinez, but only if the Gunners can offload Lukas Podolski, Yaya Sanogo and Joel Campbell first.

The Colombian striker has been prolific for Porto in his three years in Portugal. The 28-year-old scored seven goals in the Champions League last season and has also been the top scorer in the Portuguese top-flight for the last three seasons.

Martinez is yet another FC Porto forward who is prolific. The likes of Radamel Falcao, Hulk and James Rodriguez all made their names at the Portuguese club before moving on at a vast profit.
