Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger seems to have finally decided to add a new central defender to the ranks at the Emirates, with the Frenchman confirming that the Gunners were looking to reinforce their back line.
While the Professor was having doubts whether signing a new centre-back should be a priority in the January window, the latest injury to Mathieu Debuchy seems to have persuaded the boss that this is the way to go.
The former Newcastle full-back is set to miss around three months of action through a shoulder problem, meaning the Gunners will be desperately short of cover in the heart of defence with Calum Chambers forced to switch to right-back. .......Read more here.....

We all know what Arsenal need in the transfer window, including Mr Wenger. The veteran boss has admitted that he has scouts scouring Europe in search of a centre-back, yet there seems to be a decent one available for a cut-price deal at West Ham in the shape of Winston Reid.
It now seems inevitable that Winston Reid will leave the Irons either in January, or in the summer when he will be a free agent. The clubs being most heavily linked with Reid are the Gunners and arch-rivals Spurs. .......Read more here.....

A lot has been made about Arsenal’s need for another central defender due to the lack of depth in the team when injuries take their toll, and West Ham defender Winston Reid is a name that continues to be linked with the Gunners.
The 26-year-old has been outstanding for the Hammers in the last 18 months, but his contract with United expires in the summer. As a result, he can hold talks with other clubs now, and can sign a deal that means he will join on a free transfer at the end of his deal. But is he an Arsene Wenger type signing? .......Read more here.....

According to Sky Sports, Arsenal have had a second bid turned down for young Legia Warsaw midfielder Krystian Bielik. The latest bid is believed to have been £1.6million for the 17-year-old, who is highly-rated by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
I am just wondering whether the Arsenal boss has got his priorities correct in this transfer window. The Arsenal squad is strong, but everybody knows where the deficiencies lie and those deficiencies still have not been addressed by the Frenchman.
Bielik may be a hot prospect and may be making Wenger weak at the knees, but the Gunners need a central midfielder and a centre-back now, not for four or five years’ time. .......Read more here.....

According to reports from various sources, including Sky Sports, West Ham centre-back Winston Reid looks likely to leave the Hammers when his contract expires in the summer. The New Zealand international had previously been linked with a move to Arsenal.
West Ham boss Sam Allardyce told Sky Sports: “There is no future for Winston Reid at West Ham United at the moment. The only future for Winston at the moment is his contract finishes on 30 June.
“He hasn’t said that he is going to sign, he hasn’t said that he is or he isn’t but you’d err on (the side) that he isn’t by the look of it. .......Read more here.....

According to the Daily Express, Arsenal look set to battle it out with Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester United for the signature of West Ham’s New Zealand international centre-back Winston Reid.
Reportedly the Hammers could consider selling Reid for a cut-price fee in January, as Reid is out of contract with the East end club next summer, so could start to discuss terms with foreign clubs in January.
However, it now seems that a host of English top-flight clubs, including Arsenal could be set to make bids for the Danish defender earlier than that.
