Arsenal’s bid to sign Valencia defender Mustafi a long way off 1

Posted on August 18, 2016 by Crippy Cooke

According to Plaza Deportiva, Arsenal’s deal to sign Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi hasn’t taken off as the Gunners are yet to make an official bid. Reports in the last few weeks had suggested Arsenal and Mustafi had agreed personal terms, but Valencia still haven’t received an acceptable bid from the London club despite their desperation for a defender.

Arsenal have less than two weeks until the summer transfer window closes but they only have two fit centre-backs and one senior defender who has been afforded a late summer holiday. Their first game of the new season could hardly have been worse either with Liverpool putting four goals past them at the Emirates Stadium, so the pressure is on Wenger to shore up the backline before the Gunners are left behind in the title race.

According to the Mirror, Arsenal’s pursuit for Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi has hit an obstacle with the Gunners yet to match the asking price. The German centre-back is believed to have agreed personal terms with Arsenal, but the London outfit are still quarrelling with Valencia over price.

Reports from the Valencia camp suggest Arsenal are unrivalled in their pursuit for Mustafi, but just need to match Los Che’s valuation for the centre-back. Valencia are rumoured to be looking for €25M (£21.7M) which is a fair price for an international standard player regularly playing in the Spanish La Liga, but Arsenal have yet to meet the fee.

Arsenal open talks with Barcelona defender 0

Premier League heavyweights Arsenal appear to have stepped up their efforts to bolster the squad in final weeks of the summer transfer window as pressure grows on Arsene Wenger, who is once again criticised for the lack of transfer activity.

And while other clubs are busy bringing in new faces and paying a lot of money to make their teams as competitive as they can, the French tactician has been chronically quiet.

A fresh injury to Arsenal defender Gabriel has however forced Wenger to make concrete moves in order to boost the defence with only a couple of days to go before the new Premier League season kicks off.

According to Sky Sports, Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi has agreed to personal terms with Arsenal, but no fee has been agreed. Is that not tapping up?

Anyway, Sky are usually one of the most reliable sources of information when it comes to player deals. Hopefully, there is some truth in the story, but we shall see.

Arsene to offer some magic beans and a mars bar

If agreeing on a fee is down to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger this deal will not get done. The 24-year-old is reportedly rated in the £30million bracket by Los Ches. The veteran French boss is unlikely to pay anywhere near amount of money for a centre-back.

Arsenal looked on course to sign Valencia centre-back Shkodran Mustafi this summer as replacement for the injured Per Mertesacker, but reports from the Daily Mail have revealed the Spanish La Liga side are holding out for a much bigger price.

The German international is keen to join the Gunners, but doesn’t want to upset the applecart with Valencia currently stalling the move due to qualms about his valuation. Arsenal are believed to have offered £15M for Mustafi, but Los Che are holding out for close to £25M.

Per Mertesacker’s injury ruling him out of getting a contract extension 1

Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker is currently sidelined with a knee injury that is likely to keep him out of action until the new year. The former German international picked up the injury during Arsenal’s pre-season friendly against Lens, and the London club are now seeking a replacement in fellow German Shkodran Mustafi from Spanish La Liga side Valencia.

Mustafi, 24, played for Germany in this summer’s European Championships and is highly-regarded in Europe after coming of age at Valencia. He could well forge himself a lengthy stay at Arsenal should he make the switch to the Emirates, which could hamper Per Mertesacker’s chances of getting back into the side when he returns from injury.

Arsenal in talks over Mustafi move 0

Arsenal are in talks to sign Valencia centre-back Shkodran Mustafi, according to Sky Germany via Sky Sports.

The Gunners have yet to submit a bid for the German defender, but reports claim he could be available for a fee of around £25.3million plus add-ons, which could total to a further £8.4million.

Mustafi has a minimum fee release clause of £42.1million in his Valencia contract, but Los Ches are unlikely to demand close to that fee for the defender because quite simply they need a cash injection following a poor campaign in La Liga.

Arsenal targeting Mustafi as Mertesacker replacement 0

According to Italian football journalist Emanuele Giulianelli, Arsenal have contacted Valencia over the availability of defender Shkodran Mustafi as manager Arsene Wenger looks to find a replacement for injured centre-back Per Mertesacker.

Mustafi, a Germany international, was a regular in the Valencia backline last season, making 30 Spanish La Liga appearances, but could be convinced to make the switch to title-chasing Arsenal with how poor Los Che fared in La Liga.

Valencia in bid for Arsenal’s Joel Campbell 0

According to Estadio Deportivo, Spanish La Liga side Valencia are interested in Arsenal’s Joel Campbell this summer. The Costa Rica international has been on the periphery with the Gunners in 2016, and hasn’t been given any assurances about playing time in 2016/17 which could see him considering an exit from the Emirates Stadium.

Campbell made 19 Premier League appearance for Arsene Wenger’s side last season, scoring just three goals. Being a left-footed right-winger, he filled a void in the attack for the lengthy period of the previous campaign, but was pushed out of the side when Arsenal welcomed back a number of previously injured players.

Arsenal target Adil Rami transfer listed 2

Valencia defender Adil Rami is reported to have been placed on the transfer list after falling out with manager Miroslav Djukic. The news has put a number of clubs in Europe on red alert – most notably Arsenal.

The 27-year old has long been a target for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, and he potentially has the best chance to procure his signature when the January transfer window opens.

After Rami made public outbursts about Djukic, he’s been fined by the club and made available for sale. Valencia are said to have slapped an £8M price tag on his head, but could well accept less if sides fail to meet the valuation.
