Arsenal have been in the market for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez all summer.

The Gunners have had two bids turned down for the Uruguayan international already, but are still keen to test Liverpool’s resolve in the coming weeks.

Sources close to the player have suggested the 26-year old may consider handing in a transfer request if Liverpool continue to reject offers for his services.

After Arsenal trigged his transfer clause, Liverpool were obliged to let Suarez know of the interest and it had appeared he was willing to speak with Arsenal’s representatives.

La Liga runners-up Real Madrid are set to step up their interest to sign Arsenal transfer target Luis Suarez.

Following the departure of striker Gonzalo Higuain to Serie A side Napoli, the Spanish outfit have been in the market for his replacement and regard Liverpool’s top goalscorer as the perfect choice.

Upon signing for the Merseyside outfit in 2011, Suarez has scored 51 goals in 96 games. He’s netted 34 goals in 66 matches for the Uruguayan national team.

Real Madrid currently only have Karim Benzema as their senior striker in the side, and manager Carlo Ancelotti has openly admitted he wants to bring in two new faces.

The 26-year old joined the London side from Ligue One outfit Montpellier, and scored 17 goals in 47 games in his debut season for the Gunners.

Following the Gunners’ £40M+£1 bid triggering the clause in Liverpool striker Luis Suarez‘ contract, the Merseyside club had to inform the Uruguayan of Arsenal’s interest as per the agreement.

Liverpool owner John W Henry had recently scoffed at the bid from the London side, but it does appear Suarez will now be allowed to hold talks with the club.

The 26-year old has played a part in Liverpool’s pre-season, coming off the bench in a match against Melbourne Victory, but was snapped looking pretty glum on the substitute’s bench.

According to The Sun, Arsenal have been told a bid of £40M won’t be enough to sign want-away striker Luis Suarez.

The 26-year old has been linked with a move away from Liverpool this summer, and Arsenal have emerged the surprise favourites to procure his signature.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger failed with his initial bid of £25M for the Uruguyan striker – the news confirmed by Liverpool’s director and the Telegraph. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers was reportedly looking for a bid more around the £40M mark, but has now changed his stance – citing how players of a similar calibre to Suarez are being sold for much more money.
