Arsenal Set To Bring In Afellay? 9

Posted on August 27, 2012 by admin

Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger is sure to bring in reinforcements after the difficulties the Gunners had in the build-up play this season, and according to the media, the midfield section is where the Frenchman is looking to add quality, and if rumours are to be believed Barcelona’s Dutch midfielder Ibrahim Afellay might join the London side.

Afellay’s agent Rob Jansen has admitted the fact that the Dutch starlet has offers coming in from the English Premier League, where Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal have been linked with a move for him all summer long.

‘I expect Afellay to leave Barcelona on loan before the transfer window closes, Jansen told Dutch TV.

‘Talks are ongoing with several clubs. He has concrete interest from England. But it all depends on Barcelona, though. They decide where their players are going.’

Arsene Wenger’s next signing might be Yann M’Vila if the newspapers are correct, but Ibrahim Afellay is the next in line as the manager is still trying to find the reason why his midfield isn’t providing enough scoring chances for the likes of Podolski and Giroud, who despite having good performances failed to score due to the small amount of changes Arsenal has created.

Wenger – Some Players Might Still Come, Or Not… 0

Posted on August 24, 2012 by admin

Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger has declared that the club is still looking to add talent to the squad and make a few transfers, but despite having lost RVP and Song, the Frenchman isn’t too certain of his statement.

According to Wenger, some players might still join, but his main focus is to get back Wilshere and Rosicky (and when Wenger says that, it’s not usually a good sign of new transfers), so it’s tough to say whether Arsenal will manage to bring in fresh legs or not.

“Some things can still happen,” he said.

“I don’t want make a promise that I cannot keep. It does not only depend on me. But there still could be some action on the transfer market – ins and outs.”

“We are working [in the market],” he went on. “We’ll see what we can do.

“The transfer market is open for two months and yet for one month and three weeks it is nearly closed. It wakes up completely in the last week and then every minute becomes important. Everybody has played for time for seven or eight weeks and now suddenly everyone is in a hurry. And that is when the most intense activity happens.

“We knew we had to buy [at this point] last season. We had lost Wilshere and Gibbs. We had just beaten Udinese in the Champions League but had just lost to Manchester United. This season is completely different. We have a good, stable, focused squad. We just have to show how good we are in the season.

“We have Diaby and Oxlade-Chamberlain back now while Rosicky and Wilshere are coming back. They are all international-stature players. I focus highly on that. If we get these players back in good shape then we have a very, very strong squad.”

By this time last season, Arsenal’s transfer campaign has just started basically, so we can suppose that the officials won’t sleep about and that they will bring in at least a couple more players as Wenger stated earlier this year.

Arsene Wenger might be taking a bit of a gamble not properly reinforcing his team before the new campaign kicks into full flow and the odds on Arsenel making serious progress in the champions league are probably going to reflect that. Arsenal Lose Sahin And Plan To Bring Jesus Navas? 11

Posted on August 24, 2012 by admin

Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger seems to have dropped the idea of bringing in Real Madrid’s Nuri Sahin, as Liverpool manager Rodgers admits the two clubs are close to a deal.

After being thought that Arsenal has all but transferred Sahin, Rodgers has confirmed yesterday the fact that the Turkish defensive midfielder could be in Liverpool in less than 24 hours.

“Hopefully in the next 24 hours we will get some confirmation on that,”

“It’s quite far along. He’s a very good footballer.”

With only M’Vila to choose from after losing the chase for Sahin, Wenger has turned his attention to another issue of the club’s. According to rumours, Theo’s unwillingness to sign a new contract has forced Wenger to go searching for a replacement, and Spanish star Jesus Navas seems to be the top target for the Frenchman.

Navas didn’t snub the rumour, but didn’t confirm him either, saying:

‘I don’t know anything about Arsenal,’

‘I’m staying calm and I am enjoying every moment here.’

Arsene Wenger has no more than 6 days to bring in the reinforcements he wants, and according to his statement at least a midfielder (probably a defensive one) and a defender will join. Who will the two be?

Wenger Announced Midfield And Defense Reinforcements 0

Posted on August 22, 2012 by admin

Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger has admitted the fact that reinforcements will still be brought in at Arsenal now that Alex Song has chosen to leave the club for Barcelona. The Frenchman seems to be interested in adding a couple new players to the squad at least, and it seems that a midfielder and a defender are his biggest worries.

According to the Frenchman, the squad is still fragile in the defense and he is looking to add another defender to the team before too late. With Song now away, Wenger has to find a top defensive midfielder who can replace the Cameroon international as soon as possible.

“We are looking to bring one more midfielder in of course, and maybe one defender as well because we still feel we are short in some positions,” he told Arsenal’s official website.

“We didn’t lose, but it is frustrating when you are home with everyone here and you do not create more chances than we did,” he added. “It is very difficult to understand.”

It seems like Wenger’s options for the defensive midfield role are now either Real Madrid’s Nuri Sahin or Rennes’ Yann M’Vila. Who do you think would be better?

Sahin Is Closer To Arsenal Then Ever 3

Posted on August 21, 2012 by admin

Today’s newspapers went crazy claiming that Frenchman Arsene Wenger managed to turn Sahin around from joining Liverpool, and that a phonecall was all it took for the Turkish international to join the Gunners.

According to Meto.co.uk, Arsene Wenger has managed to convince Sahin to join and thus replace Song in a record-breaking time, with a world-class midfielder. Even though Sahin has been injured the whole length of last season, Mourinho’s staff claimed that the former Dortmund star is now a serios competitior for the squad, but not for the defensive midfielder role where Real Madrid is packed, but for the left-back role.

“The Frenchman, who is fluent in German, called Sahin over the weekend and convinced him to move to north London, in a personal touch that has seen the Gunners edge ahead.

Sahin is now expected in England in the next 48 hours ahead of a medical with Arsenal, before signing on a season-long loan.”

With Arsene Wenger now very close to bringing in Sahin, it’s fair to say that Arsenal will have a strong team this season. The Gunners might still bring in some midfield reinforcements after Wenger claimed that he was unsatisfied about the build-up play against Sunderland. Who do you think should still join?

Biglia No Longer An Option For Arsenal? 3

Posted on August 20, 2012 by admin

Arsenal’s target Lucas Biglia seems to be a bit further from a move to the Emirates Stadium then firstly believed, as the Argentine international has admitted the fact that no big clubs are willing to meet his €8million transfer fee at the moment.

Biglia has been watched by Arsene Wenger for a while, but with the Frenchman forced to bring in big names now after losign Robin and Song, Sahin seems much more likely to join.

“I can leave for €8million in the current market, and that is quite a lot of money – but I agreed to this transfer fee myself so I can’t really complain,” he said.

“There are clubs ready to pay that amount but they are not better than Anderlecht so for now I focus on this club. I want to at least be playing in Europe.

“I think we could really do something in the Champions League too this year. So there are many challenges left here.”

Arsene Wenger still has the option of bringing in M’Vila, but according to French newspapers, the French manager is being held back by M’Vila’s bad habbits which saw him make the headlines of scandalous pieces of news on several occasions.

Song Leaves For Barcelona For Modest Fee 11

Posted on August 19, 2012 by admin

Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger has lost yet another world-class player, as it seems that, one by one, the best footballers at Arsenal are going away. The Gunners have officially announced the sale of their most important players, as their best midfielder last season, Alex Song, has just signed with Barcelona.

An official Arsenal statement claimed:

“Arsenal Football Club can confirm that terms have been agreed for the transfer of Alex Song to Barcelona.

Song will now travel to the Catalan club to agree personal terms and undergo a medical ahead of the proposed move.”

The Catalans have confirmed the move, saying: “FC Barcelona has agreed a deal with Arsenal FC for the transfer of Alex Song to the Camp Nou. The fee is 19million euros,”

Where are we heading with this, and what is Wenger and Arsenal FC looking to do? Last season Nasri and Fabregas, this season Song and RVP and perhaps Walcott. What’s next, Vermaelen? Wilshere? Sagna?

It’s interesting to see whether Wenger will bring in Sahin, as he kind of promised he would if Song would leave. What do you think will happen?

Alex Song Wants To Move To Barcelona 0

Posted on August 18, 2012 by admin

Arsenal’s defensive midfielder Alex Song would love a move away from the Premiership to Barcelona according to his national teammate and very close friend Carlos Kameni.

The Cameroon midfielder has just began to show his real talent at Arsenal after a period in which Arsene Wenger has struggled to get Alex to play at his full potential, so it would be a shame if he would choose to follow Fabregas’ steps, who left in a similar moment of his career.

“We were together on holiday and he said he wants to go to Barcelona,” Kameni told Portuguese newspaper Abola.

“Everyone wants to play for Barcelona. Song would fit right in at Barcelona. He has all the qualities to play there.

“He is like Yaya Toure, but with more responsibility. He’s doing well. He works hard and is the complete player.”

Arsene Wenger has managed to make three transfers which are certainly going to make the club much stronger, but if the Gunners will end up losing Song the Frenchman will be back to square one, especially given the fact that Frimpong is injured and Coquelin isn’t quite at Song’s level at the moment.

Arsene Wenger Admits Big Transfers Might Come 17

Posted on August 18, 2012 by admin

Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger has admitted the fact that big transfers are still to come, saying that the Gunners can still both lose and bring in players of a high caliber. According to the Frenchman, Barcelona’s target, midfielder Alex Song might leave the club, but others just as good might also sign until the transfer window is over.

When asked whether Song could leave and whether others could join, Wenger replied:

“Both could happen, but my focus is on the Sunderland game (on Saturday).

“Midfield is an area where we have much more freedom to make decisions.”

The Frenchman then answered a question regarding the possible transfer of Real Madrid’s Turkish midfielder Nuri Sahin, by saying:

“He is one of the players we are following,” he said.

Losing Song at this time, after just being forced to lose Van Persie, would surely be a blow for the Gunners despite the fact that they have added a few top quality players to the club this summer. What’s certain is that the money they received for the transfer of Van Persie, will probably be, as the club financial agreement states, reinvested in other transfers. Who do you think will join?

Should Arsenal go back in for M’Vila? 17

Posted on August 07, 2012 by admin

Following a statement made by Wenger last month regarding his lack of interest in Rennes’ defensive midfielder Yann M’Vila, it seems that the negotiations to sign the French international have stopped even though the Gunners have been watching the 21-year-old for the whole length of the last two seasons.

Wenger’s statement completely confused everybody because it came at a time when it was believed that the deal is close to being completed. Yann M’Vila clearly stated his interest in making the switch to Arsenal, but the deal seems to be at a standstill now after Wenger’s statement.

If the French manager won’t decide himself soon, he might not have the option to bring M’Vila anymore as cross-town rivals Tottenham are now set to go in with a bid for the defensive midfielder, and rumour has it that Rennes would accept a mere £12 million bid for their star.

Given the very low fee, Arsene Wenger would be not much short of incompetent if he won’t bring M’Vila. Yes, Diaby is back, and yes, Song is a world-class defensive midfielder, but after a long time of being away from the pitch you can’t know how good Diaby will be, and Song can get injured at any time, so it can’t hurt to have a world class back-up in the squad. That’s what won City’s title after all.
