Tottenham v Arsenal Premier League preview 0

Posted on February 09, 2018 by David Nugent

On Saturday lunchtime, Tottenham host Arsenal at Wembley in a crucial north London derby.

The home side are fifth in the table. However, they are just a point behind fourth-place Chelsea in the race for a Champions League spot. Mauricio Pochettino’s side drew 2-2 at Liverpool last time out. However, they needed a stoppage-time penalty kick from striker Harry Kane to rescue anything from the game.

The draw means that the home side are now undefeated in their last seven Premier League outings, although three of their last five league games have finished in draws.

Arsene Wenger is keen to close the gap in the Premier League table between Arsenal and Tottenham with a win this weekend as the Gunners take on their London rivals in a massively important match as the race for the top-four continues to heat up.

Arsenal’s last Premier League game ended in a superb victory as they dismantled Everton. The Toffees were no match for the Gunners on the day as they were hammered 5-1 at the Emirates Stadium.

Should Sead Kolasinac be in the Arsenal starting line-up? 3

One of my colleagues wrote this morning that Arsenal youngster Ainsley Maitland-Niles is set to be handed a new deal with the north London club.

The 20-year-old has impressed playing out-of-position at left wing-back for Arsene Wenger’s team in the last few months. Maitland-Niles is naturally a midfielder and made a number of appearances for England under-20’s in his favoured position as the junior lions won the World Cup.

Ainsley-Niles selection at in an unfamiliar position has blocked the path to the starting eleven of versatile Bosnian international Sead Kolasinac, who arrived at the club from Schalke in the summer.

Home record the key for Arsenal against Everton 0

On Saturday evening, Arsenal host Everton in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium. The omens are good for a home victory, as the Toffees have been easy prey for the Gunners in recent seasons.

In fact, the side from north London have won 16 of their last 20 home games in all competitions, which is a fantastic record for the Gunners against any team.

The Merseysiders have caused Arsene Wenger’s problems at Goodison Park in the reverse fixture in recent campaigns. However, on home soil, Arsenal have enjoyed close to total domination.

Everton have a terrible recent away record

Luas Moura’s agent is reportedly in talks with Arsenal 0

Lucas Moura’s agent is reportedly in talks with Arsenal, despite the player supposedly agreeing to move to Premier League rivals Tottenham in a deal believed to be worth around £25 million.

Arsenal were given the weekend off as the FA Cup returned. The London side had been knocked out by Nottingham Forest in the last round in an embarrassing defeat as they relinquished their hold on the trophy.

They were instead forced to watch their Premier League counterparts in action, with former player Alexis Sanchez turning out for Manchester United. The Chilean had clinched a switch to Jose Mourinho’s team earlier in the week after a protracted move, and he marked his debut with the club by helping them to a comfortable win.

Arsenal target Malcom admits that playing in England is ‘a dream’ 0

Arsenal target Malcom has admitted that playing in England is ‘a dream’, with both the Gunners and Tottenham circling as the player’s future is still very much up in the air with the pace of the transfer window going up a notch.

Arsenal seem to be on the verge of losing Alexis Sanchez as the Chilean nears a move to Manchester United. It seemed as though the forward would be making a switch to Manchester, but to be with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. However, this proposed move never came to fruition and it seems likely that the Chilean will be playing in the red of United in the coming weeks.

Arsenal v Newcastle Premier League Preview 0

Arsenal will look to bounce back from consecutive Premier League draws on Saturday afternoon, as the Gunners welcome Newcastle to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsene Wenger’s side drew 0-0 with West Ham last time out, which followed a 1-1 draw at Southampton. The draws have seen the Gunners slip to seventh in the table, although they are still just a point behind Tottenham, who currently occupy fourth spot.

Coupled with a 3-1 defeat by Manchester United prior to the draws, Arsenal have picked up just two points from their last three outings in the English top-flight.

Tottenham star admits he still supports Arsenal 1

Posted on December 09, 2017 by Ben Darvill

Arsenal have been thrown a surprise compliment by Tottenham summer signing Serge Aurier, after the defender admitted that he still supports the Gunners, despite signing for their fiercest rivals only a few months ago.

Arsenal were downed 3-1 by Manchester United last Saturday as they were almost single-handedly beaten by an inspired performance from David de Gea. The goalkeeper made a number of outstanding saves to keep his side in front, and despite Arsenal being at their creative best, they were unable to score the goals to win the game.

Koln v Arsenal Europa League Preview 0

Posted on November 22, 2017 by David Nugent

Arsenal have the chance to officially seal their place in the knockout stages of the Europa League on Thursday night as the Gunners travel to Koln.

The Gunners are currently top of Group H and six points clear of third-place BATE Borisov, who have a vastly inferior goal difference to the visitors.

However, a point at the Rhein Energie Stadion on Thursday would officially see Arsene Wenger’s side progress to the knockout stages of the competition.

Jamie Carragher believes Arsenal are still a bigger club than Tottenham 0

Posted on November 21, 2017 by Ben Darvill

Arsenal beat Tottenham 2-0 on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium as they relieved some of the pressure that had been building up on the team. Following the win, former-Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has claimed that Arsenal are still a bigger club than Tottenham, despite Spurs finishing above them last season.

For Arsenal, last Saturday’s win over Tottenham was a massive result as they defied the critics who claimed that the Gunners would be no match for their opponents. In fact, Arsenal outplayed Tottenham in every position on the pitch and they fully deserved their reward of three vital points.
