Alex Iwobi set to sign new Arsenal deal 0

According to the Independent, Nigerian international winger Alex Iwobi is set to sign a new four-year deal with Arsenal. Gunners boss Unai Emery has confirmed that he has been told that Iwobi will sign a new deal with the north London club.

The 22-year-old has two years left on his Gunners contract to run, so the north London club look set to avoid another contract stand-off.

The club from north London has got themselves in a mess on numerous occasions when it has come to players running down their contracts. Even as we speak Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey has yet to agree on a new deal, despite the fact he is in the last year of his contract.

According to the Independent, Arsenal could sell the likes of Olivier Giroud, Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in order to meet the wage demands of star players Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.

Giroud, Wilshere and Oxlade-Chamberlain have been linked with moves away from north London this summer and the Independent claim the money received in fees and saved in wages will be put towards keeping Ozil and Sanchez, who both have just 12 months left on their contracts.

According to the Independent, Spanish giants Barcelona are confident of signing Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin this summer in a deal worth £45million.

The Catalan giants have been in desperate need of a right-back since the exit of Daniel Alves to Italian champions Juventus. They have been linked with numerous moves for Bellerin who left the club’s youth ranks to join Arsenal.

However, it is now claimed that the 22-year-old is hoping for a move back to his home city after his family recently returned to the Catalan capital. In a recent international on international duty, he claimed he was content at Arsenal, but he said ‘he’ll see what happens’.

According to the Independent, Arsenal are moving closer to extending the contract of Germany playmaker Mesut Ozil. It is reported that there has been a breakthrough in the contract negotiations between the club and the German’s representatives.

The former Real Madrid star’s contract expires in 2018, so the club from north London are understandably eager to extend his contract in order to stop him leaving as a free agent.

Speculation over Ozil’s future

There has been speculation about Ozil’s future due to his contractual situation. A move to Manchester United to join former Real boss Jose Mourinho had been mooted, as well as a return to the Spanish capital with Los Blancos.

As my colleague Milos reported earlier, Manchester United have emerged as shock contenders to sign Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil next summer. The German international will have just 12 months to run on his contract when the the summer transfer window reopens.

United boss Jose Mourinho has previously worked with Ozil at Real Madrid. The German played some of his best football in the white of Real. With United struggling this season it is not a surprise that Mourinho considering his attacking options for the summer.

The Portuguese boss is a big fan of Ozil and once described the German attacking midfielder as ‘the best number ten in the world’.

According to the Independent, Arsenal are looking at replacements for French international full-back Bacary Sagna. The 31-year-old is out-of-contract at the end of the season and has reportedly been offered a new two year-deal at the Emirates, worth around £75,000 a week.

However, it seems that Sagna is looking for a three-year-contract and that factor could lead to the experienced ace moving on in the summer, with the likes of Juventus and Galatasaray thought to be interested in his signature.
