Arsenal’s 3-0 defeat against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday was not completely unexpected. The Citizens are runaway league leaders in the Premier League and a cut above most teams in England, if not Europe.

People can talk about a foul for the first goal or an offside for the second goal, but in truth, City were just too good for Arsenal and the Citizens were not even at full pelt. The sheer gap between the two teams was frightening for Arsenal and the fans.

On Sunday, Arsenal faces a tough test as the Gunners travel to the Etihad Stadium to play Premier League leaders Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City have a near perfect record in the Premier League this season. The home side have recorded nine wins in their ten league games so far.

Everton were the only team to avoid defeat against the Citizens in the English top-flight this season. The Toffees managed a 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium in August.

The men from Manchester are now undefeated in their last 18 Premier League games, having recorded 15 wins in the process. Guardiola’s side have also won their last eight games in the English top-flight.

Sergio Aguero 9/1 to join Arsenal 0

According to the Mirror, Arsenal have ended their interest in Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, after previous reports claimed the 29-year-old could consider a move to the Emirates after losing his starting place at the Etihad. Aguero was linked to a swap deal with Arsenal that would see Alexis Sanchez go the other way, but such a transfer looks dead in the water.

Aguero’s future has been in doubt all summer, with the Argentine international having so far played second fiddle to Gabriel Jesus in attack under Pep Guardiola. He’s long been linked with a move to Arsenal, particularly in an unlikely part-exchange deal, but it’s now likely that if Alexis does leave the Gunners, it will be cash only and not include a City player.

Arsene Wenger is confident Sanchez will stay in north London and appears unwilling to sell him to Premier League rivals but if most recent reports turn out to be true he might want to reconsider his stance.
