Sampdoria president announces Torreira departure 0

Posted on June 20, 2018 by Veselin Trajkovic

According to Sky Sports (and other outlets as well), Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero has confirmed that Lucas Torreira has left the club.

Torreira’s contract with the Italian club reportedly contains a £22million release clause, and Arsenal, reluctant to pay the whole sum up front, offered to pay an increased fee of £26.4million (€30million) in several installments instead.

Ferrero spoke live on Italian television and sad Torreira had left for €30million. He praised the club’s business sense as they signed the midfielder from Pescara in 2015 for just 10% of the sum they are set to cash in on his departure. After spending a season on loan back at Pescara, Torreira made a total of 74 appearances for Sampdoria and scored four goals along the way.

According to Sky Sports, Arsenal have agreed a deal worth around €30m with Sampdoria to sign talented central midfielder Lucas Torreira. The report suggests that the Gunners will pay the fee in instalments. The Uruguayan starlet has a release clause of around £22million.

Torreira is just the sort of player that Arsenal now needs to be targeting, young up and coming players with big potential, while also adding quality experienced players.

An excellent midfield prospect

Arsenal have been missing a bit of bite in midfield in recent years. Swiss international arrived with a reputation for being feisty. However, that is often misplaced aggression and he has enjoyed mixed fortunes in north London.

According to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal are monitoring the situation of Marseille central midfielder Morgan Sanson, as Gunners boss Unai Emery attempts to strengthen his squad ahead of next season.

However, it seems that Arsenal are not the only club in north London eying the France under-21 international, as Tottenham have also been linked with a move for Sanson.

Agent confirms interest from north London giants

Sanson’s agent Michael Manuelle has confirmed that both clubs are interested in signing the 23-year-old midfielder. Manuelle told Foot Mercato: “Tottenham really follow Morgan, Arsenal follow him too”.

According to the Daily Star, Arsenal are willing to sell midfielder Jack Wilshere this summer, but only for the right price. The English international has been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium as a result of a lack of playing time, and West Ham United are reportedly leading the race for his signature.

Wilshere has been rated at £20m by Arsenal but has been subject of a £6.5m bid from Italian Serie A side Sampdoria, which is believed to have been rejected. The playmaker is out of contract next summer so Arsenal will be forced to either sell him or extend his stay.

Maybe it is time for Jack Wilshere to leave Arsenal permanently 0

The Daily Mail website was running a story about Sampdoria bidding £9million to sign Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere this summer. However, the Italian club are worried they may not be able to meet the Gunners financial demands.

The midfielder has just 12 months left on his contract in north London. It would not be a major surprise if he leaves the club.

He spent last season on loan at Bournemouth and made 27 appearances before unsurprisingly his season was cut short through injury. In reality, he failed to really shine for the Cherries, although he did produce a few decent performances

Arsenal in talks over Mustafi move 0

Arsenal are in talks to sign Valencia centre-back Shkodran Mustafi, according to Sky Germany via Sky Sports.

The Gunners have yet to submit a bid for the German defender, but reports claim he could be available for a fee of around £25.3million plus add-ons, which could total to a further £8.4million.

Mustafi has a minimum fee release clause of £42.1million in his Valencia contract, but Los Ches are unlikely to demand close to that fee for the defender because quite simply they need a cash injection following a poor campaign in La Liga.
