According to the Metro, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea are all interested in signing Everton playmaker Ross Barkley this summer.

With the futures of attacking midfielders Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez in doubt, a new attacking midfielder may well be on Arsenal’s shopping list this summer.

Highly-rated but highly inconsistent

When Ross Barkley first broke into the Everton first-team, he was hailed as the future England number ten. However, things have not quite turned out like that for the Wavertree-born star.

According to reports coming from the Daily Mail, Arsenal have joined the chase for Everton star midfielder Ross Barkley.

The Gunners are thought to be prepared to rival Tottenham Hotspur in bid to land the highly-rated 23-year-old England international, who is tipped to leave Everton at the end of the season.

Barkley only has one year left in his current deal with the Toffees and is reportedly unsure over his future with the club. The midfielder was dropped from the first team in a match against Swansea on Saturday and appears to be well aware of the fact Everton would be willing to sell him if he refuses to sign a new deal with the Goodison-based outfit.

Arsenal defeated Premier League rivals Everton 3-1 in the final of the Asia Trophy earlier today. The victory was not a surprise, but the sharpness of the Gunners players was, considering they have not long reported back from their holidays.

The victory which saw Theo Walcott, Santi Cazorla and Mesut Ozil on the scoresheet was achieved with a swagger that the Gunners usually reserve for competitive matches. However, the performance was Arsenal at their best against a fellow top-flight team in Everton, who are no pushovers.
