Ronald Koeman seems to be preparing a proper reform at Goodison as Dutch manager plans to build a competitive side for next season’s edition of the Premier League by adding a couple of stand-out names to his squad.

Determined to make a strong statement of intent, Koeman is believed to be eyeing Arsenal duo Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott in an ambitious double raid, according to The Telegraph.

Faced with uncertain futures of first team stars Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley – who has been priced at £50 million by the Toffees – Everton boss is determined to bring adequate replacements.

Arsenal and England midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has enjoyed a rather mixed time at Arsenal since a big-money move from Southampton. The youngster seems to have bags of ability but has flattered to deceive for much of his time in north London.

Now the Daily Mirror claims that both Manchester City and Everton are targeting moves for the midfielder in the summer.

Doubts about his Arsenal future

Much has been said about the fact that the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil will have just a year left on their contracts in the summer. However, Oxlade-Chamberlain is in the same situation and may well be sold.

With Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger expected to leave the Emirates at the end of next season, talk on his successor has begun. A lot of names ranging from Germany manager Joachim Lowe and Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini have been mentioned, but one name has a genuine chance of succeeding the French coach and that is Southampton manager Ronald Koeman.

The Dutchman has enjoyed a fantastic season with the Saints, finishing sixth in the Premier League with 63 points. Koeman improved upon a strong 2014/15 campaign even after losing a key player from his midfield, and his CV pre-Southampton speaks for itself. Koeman has managed over 600 games, winning titles at Ajax and PSV. He won the Copa Del Rey with Valencia, and is reportedly being headhunted by Barcelona.

With Arsenal’s results and form in serious slump, Arsene Wenger is reportedly considering leaving his post as Gunners managers at the end of the season.

Sitting 11 points behind table-toppers Leicester City, but with a game in hand, Arsenal are not in a good place when it comes to fighting for the domestic title.

Two-goals down in the Champions League last-16 tie with Barcelona and an away leg to play on Wednesday, Arsenal are on the path of getting eliminated from the second cup competition in just four days, after their FA Cup defeat to Watford 2-1.

Arsenal vs Southampton: How has Arsene Wenger fared against Ronald Koeman? 2

Tuesday’s clash between Arsenal and Southampton sees managers Arsene Wenger and Ronald Koeman locking horns for the 11th time in their coaching careers, and it’s the former who has some ground to make up on his compatriot.

Wenger has won only twice from their 10 head-to-heads, losing and drawing four each. And with Arsenal’s title hopes at risk, they can ill afford to see Koeman piling misery onto the Frenchman. Arsenal are 17/20 to win against Southampton on Tuesday, but it may not be so straight-forward.

Despite Mikel Arteta’s imminent return to the fold, a number of other injuries to his first-team players have forced Arsene Wenger to rethink his plans for the winter transfer window.

The Arsenal boss has previously admitted that he intends to bolster his ranks during January with the attacking options believed to be his priority and Celta Vigo sensation Nolito is thought to be the main target for the Gunners.

The 29-year-old Spanish winger has made a superb start to the new season in La Liga, scoring eight goals and amassing five assists in 15 appearances.

According to the Metro, Arsenal defender Calum Chambers could re-join former-club Southampton this summer. It is claimed that Southampton boss Ronald Koeman is keen to sign the defender on a season-long deal this summer.

Chambers is regarded as one of England’s brightest defensive talents and only made the move to the Gunners last summer for £16million. In the first half of the campaign he impressed and made 23 Premier League appearances for the Gunners in all last season.

His form slightly dipped in the second half of the campaign after losing his spot at right-back to Spanish youngster Hector Bellerin.

Arsenal faces a tricky trip to Southampton’s St Marys on New Years Day. The home side are currently fourth place in the Premier League table, but only ahead of the visitors on goal difference.

The Saints have enjoyed an exceptional first half to their season. Ronald Koeman’s side are unbeaten in three Premier League games, winning two and drawing once last time out against league leaders Chelsea.

That unbeaten run came on the back of five consecutive defeats in all competitions. The men from the south coast are very much in the race for those Champions League spots. The Saints have the second defensive record in the Premier League this season.

Arsenal now showing signs of consistency 1

Arsenal’s 2-1 win at West Ham yesterday was not entirely convincing, but the victory took the Gunners above the Hammers in the Premier League table to within goal difference of returning to the top four.

The Gunners started the campaign in an inconsistent manner, which saw them drop down the league table. However, the win at the Boleyn Ground meant that the Gunners have now won three out of their last four games in all competitions and their last two Premier League games.

It may not be the most consistent run, but there are now signs the men from north London are finding some consistency.

Arsenal hosts Southampton at the Emirates Stadium in the third round of the Capital One Cup on Tuesday night.

The Gunners ended a run of four games without a win in all competitions last time out winning 3-0 at Aston Villa and producing a far more impressive display than in previous games. The Gunners had previously gained three consecutive Premier League draws, before suffering a 2-0 defeat at Dortmund in the Champions League.

The draw at Aston Villa was the Gunners first clean sheet in the Premier League this season. Germany playmaker Mesut Ozil played a key role in the win creating a goal and also getting on the scoresheet. New signing Danny Welbeck also opened his Gunners scoring account against the Villans.
