North London club Arsenal have decided to step into the race for Real Madrid midfield talent Dani Ceballos, according to various reports.

The 21-year-old is enduring a frustrating time at Santiago Bernabeu and could be out of Madrid this January in search of regular playing time and Arsenal are one of the clubs currently linked with a move for him.

Ceballos joined Los Blancos this summer after a brilliant Under-21 European Championship campaign as part of Florentino Perez’s plan to add more homegrown players to Real Madrid squad.

Former Tottenham star has been linked with a move away from Spain for quite some time with a possible return to the Premier League on the cards.

According to former Arsenal defender Martin Keown, Gunners German playmaker Mesut Ozil has already left the club in some ways.

Keown told Radio Five Live Via the Metro:  ‘I think he’s testing Wenger more than any other player has,’

‘I think it was Belarus the other week, he didn’t fancy going. He didn’t want to go. ‘Suddenly he was injured again, he played nine minutes against West Bromwich Albion on the Monday, so how did he get injured there?

‘I think in some departments he’s already left. Psychologically, mentally, he’s already left the football club. Maybe Wenger is now trying to do the best deal he can to get some compensation for him.’

According to Diario Madridista, Arsenal have joined Liverpool in the race for Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez.

The Gunners are seeking an alternative attacking option should they fail to sign Monaco’s Thomas Lemar or Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez this summer, while Liverpool are desperate for more depth ahead of their Champions League campaign to come.

Vazquez made 33 La Liga appearances for Real Madrid last season, scoring and creating nine goals. But he only made 12 starts in the top-flight and could be seeking a move to a club that can promise him more playing time. The 26-year-old racked up an impressive 47 appearances under Zinedine Zidane last season but couldn’t dethrone Isco or Gareth Bale in the side.

Mateo Kovacic made 73 appearances for Real Madrid since his January 2015 move, but his influence last season was limited to only 19 La Liga appearances.

According to the Express, Brazilian football journalist Fabio Aleixo believes Real Madrid are looking to Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez should they lose Cristiano Ronaldo this summer. He says the Chilean international is being targeted by the Spaniards as he plays in the same position and would improve the side’s attacking options.

Sanchez scored 24 goals and made 10 assists in 38 Premier League appearances for Arsenal last season. The 28-year-old has been rumoured to be on his way from the Emirates Stadium after failing to agree a new deal with the Londoners, and Real Madrid are reportedly the latest club to show interest in his services.
