Arsenal won the Community Shield on Sunday against Chelsea courtesy of a penalty shoot-out after a 1-1 draw in 90 minutes.

The game started in a lively manner and it was Arsenal who saw the first real sight of goal. Winger Alex Iwobi ghosted past two Chelsea defenders, before seeing his centre across the fact the face of the goal hit Alexandre Lacazette and bounced clear.

A minute later and Chelsea ‘keeper Thibaut Courtois produced a comfortable save from a Danny Welbeck header. The Blues goalkeeper was in action soon afterwards denying Iwobi at close-range after the Nigerian had received a clever through-ball from Mohamed Elneny.

Arsenal just not good enough to win the title 0

Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at league leaders Chelsea showed that Arsenal are simply not good enough to win the Premier League title. Despite at times dominating possession, the Gunners did not seem to have the strength, quality or big game know-how to beat the Blues.

It looked like men against boys at times. Chelsea were incisive and boss Antonio Conte knew exactly were the Gunners weak spots were and exploited them to perfection. In reality Chelsea probably did not really have to adapt their game much for the clash, as they recorded a relatively comfortable win.

Should Arsenal enquire about Chelsea’s want-away forward Pedro? 0

Chelsea’s Pedro Rodriguez is reportedly brokering a move back to Barcelona this summer following a disappointing debut season at Stamford Bridge. His shock move in 2015 looked doomed from the start given the vast differences in philosophy of club and player, and so it proved with Pedro being inconsistent throughout 2015/16.

He scored and created nine goals in 24 Premier League starts which is a respectable return, but Pedro struggled with Chelsea’s playing style under two different managers, and is alleged to be keen for an exit as a result. Barcelona are the frontrunners for his signature according to reports, but Arsenal could well tempt him given their own playing style.

According to the Metro, reported Arsenal target Pedro is now being chased by the Gunners Premier League rivals Manchester United, who are reportedly set to bid £20million for the forward.

The 27-year-old had been linked with a move to Arsenal in the past few weeks, despite having just recently signed a new contract with European champions Barcelona. The Gunners are believed to be looking for extra firepower for next season and could be interested in signing the Spaniard.

Arsenal enquiring about Pedro’s availability this summer 0

Arsenal have long been linked with Barcelona forward Pedro, and it appears the Spanish international is once again on the Gunners’ radar this summer. A long-serving Catalan, Pedro has spent his entire professional career at the Nou Camp, but has gone from a regular first-team player to being bench duty every season, and he may consider a change of scenery as a result.

The 27-year-old scored and created 12 goals in 15 La Liga starts last season, and didn’t come close to dethroning the likes of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez or Neymar from the side. He’s made over 300 appearances for Barcelona, scoring a total of 100 goals, and would be ideal to operate as a wide forward in the Arsenal side.

According to the Daily Telegraph and reports from Spain, Arsenal are once again interested in signing Barcelona forward Pedro Rodriguez.

It is being reported that Arsenal have been in touch with the forward’s agent about the possibility of the Spanish international heading to north London this summer.

Pedro has only recently signed a new deal with the Catalan club that expires in 2019 and contains a release clause of £110million. Despite signing that new contract Pedro’s future at the European champions is still in doubt.

According to the Daily Express, Arsenal are set to launch a £30million move for Barcelona duo Daniel Alves and Pedro in January. The pair are believed to be wanted by a number of Premier League clubs in January though.

The Express claims that the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United are also interested in signing the pair. If Arsenal did make a move for the Catalan based pair then the Gunners would have a fight on their hands to sign them.

According to the Mirror, Arsenal are being tipped to make an approach for Barcelona forward Pedro with reports suggesting the Spanish international has handed in a transfer request due to a lack of playing time.

The Gunners signed his former teammate Alexis Sanchez this summer, who could well lure the 27-year-old into joining, as the London side have been struggling for goals from their forwards. Sanchez has delivered, but Danny Welbeck has made a lukewarm start to life in an Arsenal shirt.

Arsene Wenger’s side have started the season slowly, and are 1/6 to end the campaign trophyless.
