Posted on May 16, 2018 by Veselin Trajkovic

Arsenal have held talks with the agent of OGC Nice’s Jean-Michael Seri as they contemplate moving for the midfielder this summer, according to Sky Sports.

Seri came close to a move to Barcelona last summer but the deal fell through at the last minute. Apart from the Gunners, Chelsea are also said to be monitoring the situation.

Seri spent two years in Portugal with Pacos de Ferreira before moving to Nice in 2015. Since then, he has made 121 appearances and scored 11 goals for the French club in all competitions. In 2017, he was named in the League 1 Team of the Year along with the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Marco Veratti, Edinson Cavani, and now Arsenal’s very own Alexandre Lacazette. He has also accumulated 18 caps for Ivory Coast.

OGC Nice president Jean-Pierre Rivère has revealed the club will sanction two more sales to raise more for incomings, which could mean Arsenal-target Jean-Michael Seri could be available this summer, reports the Metro.

Believed to have a £36m release clause, the Nice midfielder could yet be on his way to Arsenal after the latest revelations. “There should be three or four more arrivals, and two departures. We want to finish these as soon as possible, but certain cases take more time than others,” Rivère told L’Equipe.

Arsenal make bid for Nice’s Dalbert 0

According to the Metro, Arsenal have made a bid for OGC Nice defender Dalbert Henrique. Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio says Inter Milan are after the Brazilian too. The Ligue 1 side are reportedly asking for £13m but it’s unknown why Arsenal would be in bid for another left-back.

Schalke defender Sead Kolasinac signed for Arsenal this summer, joining Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs as left-back options ahead of the new season so the Gunners arguably don’t need another one. Their alleged pursuit for Dalbert may suggest Monreal and Gibbs’ future is in doubt, or that Kolasinac might be utilised as a centre-back.

According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur are looking to steal OGC Nice midfielder Jean-Michael Seri from under the nose of fierce rivals Arsenal this summer. The 25-year-old has attracted interest from AS Roma and Barcelona, but Tottenham are believed to be pursuing the Ivorian heavily and may have edged themselves in front of Arsenal in the race to sign him.

Nice are holding out for £35m, the player’s release clause, and rejected a £20m bid from Roma recently. Seri has enjoyed a standout season at the Allianz Riviera, scoring and creating 16 goals in 34 Ligue 1 games while making 74 chances and boasting 37 successful dribbles (84%). He looks set for a departure this summer as a result but he’s still undecided about a destination.

With Arsenal wrapping up three important deals with more than a month to go of the summer transfer window, has manager Arsene Wenger impressed with his movements in the market?

After the departure of goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, the Gunners recently signed former Nice goalkeeper David Ospina to provide competition for current first-choice Wojciech Szczesny, after the Colombian greatly impressed in this summer’s World Cup. For £3.2M, Arsenal could hardly have brought in any better shot-stopper whose wages won’t break the bank.

Who will be Arsenal’s second-choice goalkeeper this season? 1

With Arsenal having lost Lukasz Fabianki to Swansea City this summer and Emiliano Viviano leaving the club to return to parent side Palermo following last season’s loan spell, who will be Arsenal’s second-choice goalkeeper for 2014/15?

Poland international Wojciech Szczesny is the club’s number one goalkeeper, and last season he shared the Golden Glove award for mot clean sheets in 2013/14, so it’s very unlikely he will be replaced. Therefore Arsenal need a player willing to sit on the bench as cover.
