Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic has been linked with a possible move to Arsenal, according to reports from the Italian media.

The Croatian striker is said to be pondering his future with Serie A champions as he remains frustrated with his current situation with Bianconeri.

Mandzukic is a natural centre forward and his tall build make him a perfect target man, but Max Allegri has often deployed the former Atletico Madrid striker on wings which was is not particularly up to Mandzukic’s own liking.

According to the Standard, Arsenal are lining up a bid for Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic to solve their striker woes ahead of the 2016/17 season. The Gunners have lost Danny Welbeck to injury and could well be without Olivier Giroud for the opening game of the coming campaign which means manager Arsene Wenger needs another experienced attacker.

Mandzukic is said to be on their radar due to his playing style. Capable of spearheading the frontline, the 30-year-old is a towering striker who can bring others into the attack and provides the physicality and work rate to put opposition defenders under pressure. Mandzukic scored and created 14 goals in 24 Serie A starts, and won 65% of his aerial duels last season.

The Daily Mirror is reporting on the future of two reported Arsenal targets today. They claim that Bayern Munich and Croatia striker Mario Mandzukic could be set to snub a move to north London and return to former club Wolfsburg this summer.

The Mirror also reports that the Gunners could sign AC Milan and Italy striker Mario Balotelli for £29.5million this summer.

Prolific

Mandzukic has a prolific scoring record in the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg and more recently Bayern Munich. The striker scored a brace in Croatia’s 4-0 World Cup victory over Cameroon in Group A. The 28-year-old missed the opening game against hosts Brazil and was greatly missed.

According to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has travelled to Brazil to check on Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic. The Frenchman has previously stated that he will be at the World Cup this summer for a television channel in his homeland.

Options

With the Carlos Vela will-he won’t he return to the Emirates saga rumbling on, the veteran French boss is looking at other attacking options. The Gunners boss could bring in more than one attacking player this summer and Mandzukic seems like a realistic target.

Out-of-favour

Should Arsenal look at signing Bayern’s Mario Mandzukic? 1

With Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic potentially leaving the club due to the arrival of former Borussia Dortmund front man Robert Lewandowski, should Arsenal look at procuring his signature this summer?

The 28-year-old, a Croatian international, has enjoyed a good last campaign in the German Bundesliga, scoring 18 goals and making four assists in 30 league games. He boasts a 23% conversion rate, which is better than Arsenal’s first-choice striker Olivier Giroud, and he could be open to a move to the Premier League to ensure he gets regular action.

Mandzukic can also create goals. He’s made 30 chances in the league, while making four assists.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is expected to sign a new deal with the Gunners before heading off to the World Cup as a pundit for French television. With the Gunners expected to strengthen their squad this summer, the veteran French boss will be on the lookout for talent in Brazil. Here are a few players he may be monitoring:

Karim Benzema (Real Madrid and France)

With the striking position a priority for the Gunners this summer, Benzema looks to now be a viable transfer target this summer, after previous attempts to lure the Spanish giants into selling the France international have failed.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Arsenal could be set to bid £30million for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema after the Champions League final. The France international has found the net 17 times this season in 34 appearances in La Liga, but his place in Real Madrid team is in danger this summer.

Unpopular

Despite scoring goal throughout his time at the Bernabeu, the striker is not a big favourite amongst the Real Madrid fans. The £30million signing from Lyon has maybe not quite fulfilled his potential in the Spanish capital, but he has still scored lots of goals for Blancos.

QPR and France striker Loic Remy is believed to be a £15million target for Arsenal, but the Gunners are not the only team interested in acquiring the striker. According to the Mirror, German giants Bayern Munich are set to bid £15million for the on-loan Newcastle striker.

Champions League

The Gunners are close to sealing their place in the Champions League for next season and are odds of 1/100 to make it into the top four this season. Qualification for Europe’s elite competition means that the Gunners will receive a cash windfall, which will most likely be added to boss Arsene Wenger’s transfer kitty.

Wenger set to sign new deal and spend big this summer 1

According to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is set to end speculation over his future by signing a two-year contract extension and then spend big this summer strengthening his squad. The news that Wenger will sign a new contract may not come as a surprise, but Wenger spending big may surprise some Gunners fans.

Spending

Mr Wenger is notoriously careful with Arsenal’s money and almost treats the club chequebook like it his own. For most managers that would mean spending big and bringing in expensive new players, not Arsene though.

According to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal have made an approach to sign Real Madrid’s young striker Alvaro Morata. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is looking to strengthen his attacking options, after Theo Walcott was ruled out for six months through a cruciate ligament injury.

Short-term

It is believed that Wenger would prefer to sign a short-term option in January and spend big in the summer. Morata has made fleeting appearances for Los Blancos, but has stiff competition for a place in Real’s attack, with the likes of Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo currently first choice in the Real attack.
