Posted on December 18, 2017 by David Nugent

Arsenal have the chance to book their place in the last-four of the EFL Cup on Tuesday night when the Gunners welcome West Ham to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal’s recent form has been inconsistent in the Premier League. However, the Gunners head into this clash on the back of a 1-0 home win over Newcastle last time out.

The north London side have had a relatively easy route to the quarter-finals, with wins over lower league opposition Doncaster Rovers and Norwich City, although they need extra time to beat the latter in round 5.

Arsenal recorded a crucial 3-0 victory over West Ham at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night to aid the Gunners hopes of Champions League qualification.

Arsenal had the first effort on goal on four minutes, as Alexis Sanchez hit an effort from 35 yards out that went high and wide of goal.

The Hammers hit back with their own attack on nine minutes. Manuel Lanzini hit a free-kick from the edge of the penalty area that missed the target by a yard. A few minutes later the Hammers had another attempt on the Arsenal goal. Mark Noble found some space just inside the area and saw his go just wide of the left-hand post.

West Ham and Arsenal drew 3-3 at the Boleyn Ground on Saturday in the Premier League in a brilliantly entertaining encounter.

West Ham had the first attempt on goal on 13 minutes. In fact the Hammers thought they had taken the lead. Andy Carroll tried an acrobatic effort towards goal that Manuel Lanzini headed in from close-range. However, the referee’s assistant flagged for offside. Replays showed that it was an incorrect decision.

The Gunners took the lead on 18 minutes though. Alexi Iwobi played a fantastic through ball to Mesut Ozil, who advanced on Adrian and fired home.
