Seems things are finally starting to come together for Arsene Wenger and in more ways than one. The Arsenal manager says reserve goalkeeper, Vito Mannone was free to leave the club in the off-season and he was expecting the Italian to do just that before the season started. Luckily for Wenger, Mannone stayed and Arsenal are the better for it.
It seems that Wojciech Szczesny has frightened all-comers now that he has cemented his place as the long-term Number One between the Arsenal sticks. Manuel Almunia has been left out in the cold for 18 months and now that his contract has finally ended he has left the club.
Lukasz Fabianski is VERY unhappy that he lost his place (through injury) to Szczesny last season, and while he is understudy at Arsenal, he will also play second fiddle in the Poland national team. He has made it clear that he wants regular first-team football next season, whether on loan or on a permanent deal.
Arsenal could be in huge problems ahead of the final game of the season against WBA, as Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is struggling with a knee injury and is still in doubt for the weekend game.
The Pole was one of the most impressive players of the season for Arsenal, whereas simply putting it, Fabianski was NOT! He had a bad performance for the Gunners in the few chances he got, and seemed to be very eager for the season to get over and leave for a club where he could actually have some decent playing time.
