They were instead forced to watch their Premier League counterparts in action, with former player Alexis Sanchez turning out for Manchester United. The Chilean had clinched a switch to Jose Mourinho’s team earlier in the week after a protracted move, and he marked his debut with the club by helping them to a comfortable win.

The former Arsenal legend Sol Campbell seems to think that the best way to keep captain Robin Van Persie at the club is by bringing in reinforcements. Manager Arsene Wenger has tried in a series of occasions to persuade the Dutch striker to sign his contract extension, but Robin rejected the attempts time and time again, preferring to wait to see what this summer brings.

Perhaps Wenger will take notice of the Dutchman’s needs and will bring in a series of top players who will help motivate Robin into staying and the other Gunners into winning the title.
