Karim Benzema not needed at Arsenal 0

Posted on October 31, 2017 by David Nugent

Once again, Real Madrid’s French striker Karim Benzema is reportedly a transfer target for Arsenal. We have been here before, though, haven’t we? Seemingly, every transfer window the Gunners are linked with a big-money move for the striker.

Reports from Spain suggest that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is set to have a clear out after the team’s poor start to their season.

Los Blancos suffered a 2-1 defeat against minnows Girona at the weekend. It seems it may have been the final straw for the not exactly patient president.

Arsenal have embarked upon a very good run of form of late as they have arrested an apparent crisis, which has allowed them to push on in a multitude of competitions.

A 2-1 win over Swansea, courtesy of goals from Sead Kolasinac and Aaron Ramsey, kept their slim hopes of catching Manchester City at the top alive.

In the Carabao Cup, they were also able to claim a win over Norwich, while their Europa League campaign has been taken seriously by Arsene Wenger, with the side currently three wins from three and top of Group H.

Arsenal battled to a 2-1 win over Swansea on Saturday as they maintained their momentum following a very good run of form.

Sead Kolasinac and Aaron Ramsey’s goals were enough to see the London side past the Swans after the visitors had taken the lead through Sam Clucas’ first-half strike.

The latest victory means Arsenal now have 19 points, one short of Tottenham in third, and three clear of Liverpool in sixth. Considering they were in crisis a few weeks ago, they have undergone a remarkable turnaround of late to get their campaign back on track.

Beneath all the moaning about that long trip east for the Europa League clash against BATE Borisov this Thursday, we bring you a story or two to lift your spirits and put an exciting twist to otherwise uneventful Wednesday for our beloved club.

Gunners head out to Belarus looking to grab their second victory in Group H at the Borisov Arena leaving us with nothing but rumours to work with.

We’ll take it, of course, and here’s what you can expect to come across while reading through today’s papers.

Will Arsenal make any more signings this summer? 2

Posted on July 25, 2016 by David Nugent

It seems Arsenal is one of the most talked about clubs when it comes to transfer every window. The usual set of rumours is wheeled out as new. Gonzalo Higuain, Karim Benzema, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexander Lacazette all constantly set to sign for the Gunners.

Admission of guilt

All spotted at Euston or Heathrow heading to sign for Arsenal. All these stories are made to sell newspapers and space on websites. I cannot absolve myself from the blame on this issue, as obviously, we speculate about prospective new signings daily.

Will Arsenal add further to their forward line? 0

According to the Guardian, Arsenal have now agreed a deal with Japanese club Sanfreece Hiroshima for young striker Takuma Asano. He will still need to pass a medical and will then the deal will be ratified.

The 21-year-old is highly-rated and is set to be in the Japanese squad for the summer Olympics in Brazil. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has labelled the striker as one for the future, but the big question is will the Gunners sign a more experienced striker this summer?

Seemingly a lack of forward options

Alexandre Lacazette is a good option for Arsenal 3

Arsenal are set to make a move for Lyon striker Alexander Lacazette, according to the Daily Telegraph anyway. The Gunners are obviously still looking for a new striker after Leicester’s England forward Jamie Vardy snubbed a move to north London.

The Telegraph claims that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has sounded-out Lacazette’s representatives over signing the prolific striker this summer.

Arsene have you been reading my articles?

A couple of months ago a story was doing the rounds that West Ham had had a bid for the striker turned down and I wrote at the time that the Gunners should make a move for the Lyon. It seems Mr Wenger has been reading my articles!

Arsenal target Alvaro Morata now even harder to sign 1

Posted on June 22, 2016 by David Nugent

According to the Independent, Real Madrid have exercised their right to buy-back Spanish international striker Alvaro Morata from Italian giants Juventus for £23million.

It is now common practice for Spanish clubs to insert such buy-back clauses in young player’s contracts, just in case they wish to sign them back at a later date.

Completely financially motivated

Real Madrid are a club known to thrown money around, but buying Morata back from Juve may prove to be a masterstroke, with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and of course Arsenal all reported to be interested in signing the 23-year-old.

Arsenal’s move for Jamie Vardy has not went down well 2

Posted on June 05, 2016 by David Nugent

So Arsenal finally makes a move for a striker and it has not gone well one bit with the Gunners fans. Has Arsene Wenger finally moved for Gonzalo Higuain, Karim Benzema or even Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, no its Leicester’s Jamie Vardy, as I wrote in my article yesterday.

Close to joining the Gunners

The Gunners have met the £20million release clause in Vardy’s Foxes contract and according to the Daily Express will have a medical today before he heads to France for Euro 2016 with the rest of the England squad.

Rumours of Aubameyang deal seem like myth 1

Posted on January 27, 2016 by David Nugent

As usual the same names have been reeled-off by the media as potential Arsenal target targets. Karim Benzema, Edinson Cavani and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have all supposedly been spotted in London hotels, or are about to arrive at the Gunners training ground for a medical.

When in truth is probably that none of the trio have ever been anywhere signing for Arsenal. The Daily Star may just have trumped everybody with their rubbish of the day story about the Gunners spending £76million on Aubameyang, because German legend Lothar Mattheus stated he would be available for that fee.  They later published Dortmund’s reply to the rumours.
