Arsenal and Chelsea managed to draw a blank in Monday night’s big game at the Emirates Stadium. The game was hardly a classic. In truth it was a slightly scrappy affair.

The visitors produced the first threat of the opening period in the fifth minute, Frank Lampard seeing a shot block by the Gunners defence. Two Minutes later and Tomas Rosicky saw an attempted through-ball to Olivier Giroud cut-out by Gary Cahill.

The visitors broke on eight minutes through Fernando Torres, but Per Mertesacker tackled the Spaniard close to the Gunners penalty area. On 15 minutes Eden Hazard tried to get midfielder Ramires through on goal, but the ball ran through to Wojciech Szczesny.
