On Sunday afternoon, world champions Germany will start the defence of their title as they face Mexico in Group F of the World Cup in the Luzhniki Stadium.

Germany cruised through qualifying with a perfect record. No team scored more than Die Mannschaft’s goal tally of 43 in European qualifying. At the other end of the pitch, they conceded just four times.

The team ranked first team in the world will be looking to become the first team since Brazil in 1962 to retain the World Cup.

West Ham holds Arsenal to a goalless draw 1

Arsenal were held to a goalless draw by struggling West Ham at the London Stadium in the Premier League on Wednesday night.

The Gunners controlled the opening exchanges. However, the first attempt on goal did not arrive until the tenth minute. West Ham ‘keeper Adrian got down to comfortably save Alexis Sanchez’s effort.

On 15 minutes, West Ham winger Marko Arnautovic saw a headed effort ruled out for offside. Arsenal came forward again on 23 minutes. A good team move involving Jack Wilshere and Olivier Giroud resulted in the ball being played to Sanchez, whose deflected effort flew wide of the post.

Arsenal are looking for a striker and a prolific one has seemingly stated he is unsure of his future with his current club. That striker is former Manchester United forward Javier Hernandez.

The Mexican international has raised doubts about his future at Bayer Leverkusen by saying he is not ruling out a move before the transfer window shuts.

According to Spanish publication Don Balon, Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez has asked Gunners boss Arsene Wenger to sign former-Manchester United and current Bayer Leverkusen striker Javier Hernandez in January.

Sanchez reportedly believes that the Mexican international would be a top signing for the north London club in January. In fact such is his admiration for the Bayer striker that he has put in a personal request to his boss to sign Hernandez.

Hernandez only moved to Germany in the summer from Old Trafford, but has been in superb form this season, scoring 19 goals in 16 appearances for the German side in all competitions, including 11 in the Bundesliga.

According to talkSPORT, Arsenal could make a January swoop for former-Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez. The Mexican international has been in top form this season for German club Bayer Leverkusen, scoring 18 goals in his 21 appearances for the club.

Hernandez only joined Bayer in the summer for a reported fee of around £7.3million. The 27-year-old striker has proven a bargain after Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal discarded the diminutive star.

Hernandez prolific exploits for Bayer have raised the interest of a number of clubs, which reportedly include Arsenal, with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger a believed admirer.

Arsenal are reportedly looking at the possibility of signing Manchester United’s disgruntled striker Javier Hernandez.

The 25-year old has only made one league start this season, with manager David Moyes utilising him more from the bench regardless of recent form.

While not openly admitting he’s considering leaving the Premier League holders, a move could well interest him as he look to pursue more playing time. Valencia were linked with him this summer, but a deal failed to materialise.
